CONGRATULATIONS MRS. TAMARHA LUBIN
Mrs. Lubin, a first-year teacher, received $1,000 grant for classroom materials and supplies from the Alabama Power Foundation. These grants provide crucial support for first-year teachers all over our state and we are especially grateful to the Alabama Power Foundation for providing this needful investment in our educators. The foundation has been providing new teacher grants since 1995. Grant candidates were submitted by the state’s education programs. Winners were selected by a committee that included education administrators. Each winner graduated from a state-approved teacher program at an Alabama public four-year college or university. Congratulations Mrs. Lubin!

HUMAN EXPLORATION ROVER CHALLENGE
Tami Thompson-Walker: "The team is made up of 7 members, 5 high school students and 2 middle school students. Not only did these students pedal this rover, but they also designed and built it. The Wednesday before the competition we weren't sure if they would get the rover finished in time for the race. They were having a hard time getting their parts in for their wheels. They didn't get their rover finished until Thursday afternoon. Then there were a few set backs with the suspension, steering and wheels. These kids pulled together Thursday night and with the help of their teacher, coach, and other mentors they were able to finish it in time for the race. We were only hoping for them to make it over the first few obstacles without the rover breaking down. That was our only goal for our rookie team. Not only did they make it over the first few obstacles, but they were able to finish the race on both Friday and Saturday. These kids are a great group of kids to work with, and have a very bright future ahead of them. Go Bucks!!"
