Better Together Series Continues on Sunday
We are not meant to do life alone. We need one another in our times of sorrow and loss. We need one another when it’s time to celebrate. We need one another when we think about spreading the vision of the Kingdom of God. We not only need one another, but in fact, we are better together. Together we care better. Together we celebrate better. Together we serve and give better.
Sunday, October 17 | Week 2 | Facing Our Fears Together
The story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego reminds us that God provides community for us so that in the midst of trials, we can face our fears together.

Flooding in Rehearsal Room, Hallway Earlier This Week
It was discovered earlier this week that the hot water faucet in the choir room bathroom was running full blast for almost 48 hours, causing the bathroom, rehearsal room, and hallway to flood.
The sink was draining, but the constant water caused the water heater to leak and flood the hallway, part of the rehearsal room behind the sanctuary, Hannah Rachal’s office, and utility closet. It is thought that the running faucet was due to negligence rather than malice.
Dalworth Restoration quickly began the drying process and the fans will likely be used through Saturday. The baseboard next to the sanctuary was cut to ensure water doesn’t remain under the stage. The new carpet installed a few months ago is expected to dry and not need replacing.
A new water heater was purchased and installed this week by a generous church member. The primary leak has been identified in the drainpipe inside the wall between the bathroom and the sacristy. The repair is expected to be completed in the next few days by the same church member.
Dalworth is assisting the church with notifying our insurance company to file a claim.
Children’s Socks Collection for The Salvation Army
October is Socktober and so far we’ve collected 300 pairs of new socks for children served by The Salvation Army Lewisville. Vista Kids and Classic Women have a goal of collecting at least 500 pairs of new children’s socks this month. To support this initiative, leave your donations in the designated basket in the Welcome Center through Sunday, October 31.
Book Donations for Free Little Library
Get a book. Share a book. Books donations for children, teens, and adults are always welcome. There is especially a need for adult fiction. Donations can be left in the Little Free Library or drop them off in the church office. Members of the Vista Forum class volunteer to maintain the library.
Family Fall Campout Right Around the Corner
Our Family Game Nights Fall Campout is right around the corner! Have you signed up to participate October 22-24 in Highland Village? Whether you join for the day, one night, or both nights, it will be a fun opportunity for fellowship. There will be games and lots of activities throughout the weekend. Worship will be held on Sunday morning. Check out the registration form for more details.
Trunks Needed for Trunk or Treat Event
Our annual Trunk or Treat is about two weeks away and we have a big need for volunteers to host trunks in order to have the event.
Please consider hosting a decorated trunk and handing out treats on Sunday, October 31. There also are some booths where the game and all supplies are available and just need volunteers. Event time is 3-4:30 p.m. The SignUp Genius lists the details. Please join us for a fun event for our community!
CCA Food Pantry Volunteer Signup for Fall
There are openings to serve at the Christian Community Action Food Pantry this month. Our church works the second and fourth Mondays serving as checkers and baggers. Volunteers report to the CCA Food Pantry, 200 S. Mill St. in Lewisville, at 5:45 p.m. and finish by 7:30 p.m. Use the button below to sign up to serve. Thank you for supporting our community partner!
Volunteers Needed for Holiday Food Drive
Our annual food drive for Christian Community Action is set for Saturday, November 13, at Market Street across from the church. Use the button below to select an hour (or more) to serve.
Volunteers will greet customers, hand out flyers, and accept food donations. Children are welcome, but only adults need to sign up. This is a great opportunity to serve our community partner and support those with food insecurity this holiday season.
