Summer 2020
Workforce / Internship Opportunities
State Bar of GA Pipeline Program
Greetings,
My name is Rebecca Christian Smith and I am the Executive Director of the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program. I am writing to you to share information about this summer's High School Pipeline Program and ask that you please circulate information about this fun, interesting and educational program with your students.
The Pipeline Program was created in 2006 as a partnership between the State Bar of Georgia Diversity Program, John Marshall Law School and the Leadership Institute for Women of Color Attorney's, Inc. The purpose of the program is to gather and introduce a diverse group of rising 9th, 10th and 11th grade high school students who are interested in issues involving the law and social justice or becoming lawyers. The program provides students with opportunities to learn about various areas of law, meet and interact with lawyers and judges, hone writing and oral presentation skills, discuss various topics that intersect with law and network with a group of their peers. The program also includes daily grammar and writing instruction provided by a Georgia certified teacher. The program ends with an oral and writing competition and a closing party. The program is limited to 22 students.
This free program is a fantastic summer opportunity for your students. Some of our alum have followed their passion and graduated from law school. Others have become teachers, obtained or are in the process of obtaining various graduate degrees or plan on attending law or some other graduate program. I've attached an interest letter that includes a link to the application. In the event that you or your students are unable to open the link, I have attached the application. The application deadline in April 13, 2020. The program runs from May 26, 2020 through June 5, 2020.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me via this email or via my cell (404) 822-3856.
Thank you for informing and encouraging your students to apply!
Kindest Regards,
Rebecca Christian Smith, Esq.
