A Word From Mrs. Loor
Dear Franklin Families,
I hope you all had informative parent-teacher conferences over the past couple of weeks. The students and teachers have been continuing to strengthen learning, routines and expectations academically as well as socially. We are practicing to remember and follow our school rules. (See below for the school rules poster contest!)
I had the opportunity to spend some time in classrooms this week and it is a joy to get to know your children better and better each day. I see how they love being in school, spending time with their friends and growing as a learner. I am thankful for each and every member of our school community.
As we head into another long and hopefully, restful weekend, I'm wishing you all a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your loved ones.
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

Faces of Franklin
Please click here and enjoy learning about the 4th grade team!
Here are our past teams featured so far:
- If your child will not be in school, please email or call Mrs. Napoles. This is very helpful when we're doing attendance.
- Children should not be bringing toys, Pokemon cards, etc to school unless it is for a specific school-related activity such as a special share day.
- When you are picking up your child, please do not park directly across the street from the school between Blackburn Place and Warwick Road. The staff parking lot is also only for staff and service vehicles. Please be mindful of parking on the streets close to crosswalks. The safety of our walkers is a priority.
- Any forgotten items that need to be dropped off must be labeled with the child's name and teacher's name and left on the table in the security vestibule past the front entrance.
- Please note that there is no signing in when your child is late or leaving early. Please wait for your child outside of the main office doors.
- Please remind your children to check the Lost & Found on their way out to recess to retrieve their personal items.

ILLNESS GUIDELINES
Please keep your child home if he/she is sick.
See below for COVID testing recommendations and follow the NJ Department of Health's Standard School Exclusion Guidelines for all other illnesses.
If your child tests positive for COVID-19, immediately contact your child's school secretary or school nurse. Please click on the "Reporting" tab and receive additional information related to your child's diagnosis.
During medium and high (yellow and orange) community levels, the NJ Department of Health recommends COVID testing when symptomatic (Union County is currently yellow). It is recommended that students who who have two or more symptoms from category A, or at least one symptom from category B, test for COVID.
A: At least two of the following symptoms: fever (measure or subjective), chills, rigors (shivers), myalgia (muscle aches), headache, sore throat, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, congestion or runny nose;
OR
B: At least one of the following symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, new loss of smell, or new loss of taste.
COVID QUARANTINE AND ISOLATION GUIDELINES
All COVID positive students must complete a 5 isolation (with day 0 being the date of the positive test or the date of first symptoms) in order to return to school, regardless of vaccination status. Students returning to school on day 6 will be required to wear a mask at school on days 6-10 (Unless they present a negative COVID test on days 6 and 8). Please contact your school nurse to confirm all return dates. Virtual instruction is no longer available during COVID isolation.
For health-related questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Zanelli, our school nurse. Her email is azanelli@summit.k12.nj.us. You can also visit the Summit Public Schools Virtual Health Office for additional information.
Counselor's Corner
For any questions regarding our counseling program, please contact Ms. Audino, our school counselor. Her email is laudino@summit.k12.nj.us.
