Principal's Corner
SLS 8th Grader Spencer Mack entered the Indiana Money Smart Kid Essay contest. He was one of three finalists from the State of Indiana and invited to attend a luncheon and award ceremony in Indianapolis. At this event he was awarded the GRAND PRIZE and received $1000.00 for his college fund. Great Job Spencer! Spencer represented SLS very well and was commended (by many) for his manners and the nice young man he is.
In addition, SLS Economics teacher Erin Trenkamp was awarded $250 to spend on her Economics class, as well as the admission fee for an economics conference this summer.
SLS Wins NAMM Award
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) awarded SLS the Music Merit Award for 2017-18 (1 of 7 Catholic schools in the U.S., 1 of 4 schools in the State, 1 of 124 in the U.S.).
The SupportMusic Merit Award recognizes individual schools that demonstrate outstanding achievement in efforts to provide music access and education to all students. To qualify for the SupportMusic Merit Award, SLS answered detailed questions about funding, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making programs. Responses were verified with school officials and reviewed by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
Congratulations students, parents, and Miss Kushman!
Mr. Chad Moeller
