Extra Points : Coach Pomazak's Message
Not going to bury the headline here! We did it! The Varsity has officially punched its ticket into the 2022 IHSA football 7A state playoffs. Proud does not even describe my feelings towards these players and staff. It is an emotional moment that I do not want just to gloss over. Too often, we can easily get caught up with the next challenge or moment. From early November, the number one goal was to get back to the playoffs. The amount of preparation, accountability, and investment every parent, player, and staff member has made is humbling. It is also why we are where we are today. I want our kids to realize that goals achieved must be celebrated. There are not many times in life when you set out to achieve something and do it. We must hit the "pause" button on those moments and savor the feeling for a minute. I do not think I can truly put into words my appreciation for our entire program. I am excited that our players have earned the "second season"! I know they are ready to take the next step on their journey to ELITE.
As we enter the final third of the season and transition into the playoffs, you may wonder how that affects the closure of our under-level season. First, I wish our frosh and soph the best of luck as they close out their 2022 campaign. In the coming weeks, our varsity staff will expand our roster and invite players to join us during the playoffs. The initial expansion will be by invitation only. Unfortunately, it is not conducive to the entire program joining us for the playoffs. Those that stay with the varsity will practice with the team, and those who get put on the playoff roster will dress for the games. There are still a few boxes to check before we move into that phase of the planning period, but I want to make this information available to you.
Finally, as we move into the final two games, I want to thank all the parents for the constant support of our players. The team dinners, grab-and-go meals post-game, and the concessions work are not easy but absolutely essential. We are one family, and the varsity success is an extension of the sacrifice and efforts made at every level. Let us enjoy these last few weeks and make a great playoff run!

2. 6 wins is an automatic bid
3. Conference champion is an automatic bid
4. Seeding is based on records and the points
5. 1 point is awarded to the team for every win on their schedule
