Curfew/Spirit Bell
The UNT curfew and spirit bell was retired in the fall of 1981, where it now stands proudly as a source of pride and honor. Two new bells are now used. Interestingly enough, it first was used in 1891 at games, and to signal time in between classes.
Eagle Claw
The Eagle Claw has been used for a while now. It represents university pride and unity. Essentially, make a peace sign, and bend your fingers like if they are claws.
Homecoming Bonfire
Homecoming bonfire was started as early as 1935. After WWII, it was held from 1943-1960. In 1960, someone left a time bomb by the bomb fire and lit it early. Ever since then, UNT has kept a strict night watch. The honor of lighting the Talons bonfire is given to the person who put the most effort. The bonfire is smaller and now under 24 hour watch due to some minor accidents in the past.
