Different Forms of Energy

Mechanical Energy
MECHANICAL ENERGY: The form of energy that is associated with the position and motion of an object.
Throwing a football
When you throw a football it has both potential and kinetic energy. The higher the football, the greater the potential energy. And the faster the football moves, the more kinetic energy it has.
Mechanical equation
Mechanical Energy= Potential Energy + Kinetic Energy
Thermal Energy
Thermal energy is the total potential and kinetic energy of the particles in an object.
LAVA- The lava may be moving slowly, but the particles aren't. The particles have a large amount of kinetic energy, so the lava has a large amount of thermal energy.
Electrical Energy
The energy of electrical charges is electrical energy.
Lightning
The electrical charges from the sky collect and form lightning.
Electric grid
And electric grid harnesses electrical charges to power the technology in our lives.
Chemical Energy
Chemical energy is potential energy stored in the chemical bonds that hold the chemical compounds together.
FOOD: The particles in food contain chemical energy. Your body uses this energy after you eat them.
Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy is stored in the nucleus of an atom. It is released in a nuclear reaction.
A Nuclear Explosion
Nuclear energy is released in a nuclear explosion.
The Sun
The Sun is a source of nuclear energy.
