Objectives for Development and Learning
- Regulates own emotions and behaviors
- Establishes and sustains positive relationships
Dear Parents,
We had a fun time learning about the different feelings!
Getting to know ourselves and our emotions is a never ending job! Starting early, is the best way to encourage success and empathy towards others.
This week we have been exploring those feelings and emotions through nursery rhymes and stories. Kids starred "Little Miss Muffet" by taking turns and role-playing getting frightened or scared by a spider. We also read "The Kissing Hand" and got familiar with our Safe Place, as getting separated from our homes and relatives is one of the many challenges our children will face these first few weeks of school.
To complement our unit we had many different activities throughout the week, and we did fun small groups (writing, literacy, math, and fine motor skills activities).
We discussed the following open ended questions:
What should we do if we get sad or scared at school?
Have you ever been scared?
What makes you happy?
Yes/No question
Are you afraid of Spiders?
Next week, we will talk about "All About me" and we will keep working on conscious discipline.
Don't Give up and try- PK4 will try everything!
Vocabulary
Every week we introduce specific words that relates to our themes or focus questions. These are words that can also be reinforced at home. Using them in daily conversations will help increase their vocabulary and strengthen their English acquisition.

Friendly Reminders
Family Picture
If you have not done so already, please remember to send in your family picture because we would love to have it placed in our classroom family tree.
Please remember to take time to read to your child every day !
Me in a Bag
We will be dedicating a special moment of the day to an activity called me in a bag. The idea if for students to have an opportunity to share with their friends things that are special to them. They can bring objects, photographs etc about themselves. It is like a show and tell time where they are the center of attention so others can get to know their likes and interests. It is not a requirement but if your child would like to be part of the activity you can help him/her select and plan accordingly . If you could please send me an email ,just so that we know your child will be sharing that week, it would be much appreciated.
No Toys
Children are asked NOT to bring toys/makeup from home. They are very distracting and we cannot be responsible for lost or broken toys or hurt feelings caused by them.
