Ugly Sweater Day
Holiday Spirit Week at Monomoy
Each day the students came up with fun and creative ways to enjoy the last week at school together before the winter break. Pajama day, Ugly Sweater day, Favorite Flannel day, and Bundle Up day were great ways to promote school spirit. Today we kicked off the vacation with a pep rally focusing on celebrating the great things people in our school to for each other.

Getting ready for Pep Rally!
Mrs. Forte-Doyle's ninth grade English class welcomed two special visitors on Wednesday, 12/21: Officer Sean Ryder of the Chatham Police Department and Officer Tom Clark of the Harwich PD.
Officer Ryder specializes in Traffic Safety, OUI investigations, and car accident fatalities. These ninth graders are currently reading local author, Robert Pease's novel, OUI. With the help of Special Ed teacher, Karen Murphy, the students and Mrs. Forte-Doyle have found questionable plot decisions regarding police procedure and anti-police bias. We have taken this opportunity to use our critical thinking skills to question the author's point of view and confront our own possible biases against law enforcement.
Our class sends a big shark shout out to Officer Ryder for creating a thorough and informative powerpoint just for our class and especially, for coming straight to our class from his midnight to morning shift without any rest! Officer Ryder and Officer Clark are prime examples of how wonderful our Monomoy Police Departments are. They care about our children's safety, and we care about them!!! Thank you guys!
Raising Money for Homeless Animals
Many thanks to the students listed below who helped to raise money at the Chatham Holiday Stroll on
the cold night of December 9! We would also like to thank The Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank,
Betsy Casey, and Diane Byers, our Animal Control Officer of Chatham.
This is our 9th year of operation as we support the Animal Control Officers (ACOs) of both
communities. We provide food, shelter and medical care for abandoned, neglected and stray animals
until they are adopted into new loving homes! (Our work lightens the load of other cape animal rescue
centers.) 100% always goes to help animals!
If you would like to help us care for these animals, checks can be made out to: MRSD (abbreviation
for Monomoy Regional School District) and please write “Animal Welfare Club” in the memo section of
the check. Donations may also be mailed to:
ANIMAL WELFARE CLUB, Monomoy Regional High School, 75 Oak Street, Harwich, MA 02645
THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
