"Every Child, Every Classroom, Every Day"
A Note from Mr. Fredette
Once again, I need to reiterate that one of my most favorite times of day is greeting the students at the front door in the morning. More and more, I hear, "Good Morning, Mr. Fredette, have a great day," before I can even welcome them. It's a great feeling.
We have come to the end of Mr. Fredette's Reading Challenge and the winner is.........ME! I won by just over 400 steps! That means if students had read 401 more minutes, they would have won. That's less than a minute per student. Did your student contribute? I hope so - - don't forget to keep encouraging your student to read. You are their best model for the good reading happens we wish to instill in them. Read a book together, read the back of the cereal box, read street signs as you travel. Every minute counts and only moves your student forward. Reading in the lynch pin of learning - the ability to read fluently - drives learning for all subjects. All it takes is 20 minutes/day...
We will be announcing some new initiatives moving into the new year, and wonderful things to come for the students of Elm Street and Gardner Public Schools. We made some great gains last year and are only looking to move forward.
