The Hall Way...

It was a great week to be a Warhawk! This morning we had a breakfast for our September Students of the Month. Congratulations to the students that have started the year off strong and exemplify what it means to BE A WARHAWK!

Our sixth graders participated in a Ground Water Festival here on Thursday. Members of MCSEEP (McHenry County Schools Environmental Education Program) were at Northwood to share their expertise and knowledge with our inquisitive sixth graders.

We will have picture retakes on Monday. If you ordered a package and would like retakes, please send the pictures back to school with your students.

Wishing all of our Northwood families a wonderful weekend!

6th Grade News

In Mrs. Meyers’ class, students recently took part in a “book tasting!” 6th graders had a menu that they would take from table to table in the classroom, filling it in with books that looked interesting to them from the selections. They will soon be matched up with others in their class who chose the same book in order to try out!

8th Grade News

8th grade mono and dual language science classes have been looking at the color change phenomenon of the Statue of Liberty. Each student made a claim as to why they think this happened and supported it with evidence. They are now monitoring experiments that they designed to try to replicate this phenomenon and prove their claims to be true.

8th Grade Science
Please have your student bring 6th grade and sport physicals, dental forms, and immunization records to the nurse ASAP. The nurse also needs updated medication forms for students. If you have any questions, please give our school nurse a call. Thank you for your help as we collect this important paperwork for our students.

Northwood art club meets in the art room (138 Inspiration Drive) each Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30. All students need to be picked up promptly at 4:30.

There is no fee to join art club, although there may be a small fee for individual projects if students sign up for them. Students are welcome to drop in at art club throughout the year as their schedule allows. Students typically have a choice of 3 different activities during each meeting, and students may also have the opportunity to help design and create large-scale projects for the school.
