My primary goal as the MVEA President is better communication! I'm going to start with trying to update members about news, election opportunities, benefits to take advantage of.... As always, please email or call me if you have any questions.

Brandi Viter is our lead negotiator. It was her first year in charge and she did a wonderful job. We settled on May 31 - the first time in years to be done before the beginning of summer break. The highlights of the settlement are:

  • 3.4% total increase (well done considering the state only gave 2.25% new money)
  • Increase in the following coaching positions - Fresh/Soph volleyball, basketball, football
  • Created a district tech director position
  • Increased the high school cheerleading coach
  • Created an assistant wrestling coaching position
  • Created a ms success lab supervisor
  • Created a hs robotics position
  • Increased boys golf and girls and boys tennis positions

If you are interested in being on the negotiations team this year, please email Brandi or myself. The busy part of the year is March - May.

The Teacher Store is a non-profit organization made possible by the Linn Area Credit Union and Cedar Rapids Education Association. The store provides supplies to area educators in exchange for teacher bucks.

I have some teacher bucks I would be happy to give to anyone. The picture below also gives you 10 teacher bucks for your continued membership to MVEA.
