I hope you all had a great weekend!
GTES and Compliance Training:
We have been enjoying our pre-evaluation conferences. They have been great opportunities to discuss instructional expectations. Thank you for your participation. Please remember to sign off in PD&E so that there are three green checks, one for orientation, one for self-assessment, and one for the conference. Also, most of you have completed the compliance training. If you have not this needs to be completed by the end of the week.
Instructional Videos:
Please minimize the use of videos in your instruction. Video clips should be kept to 5-7 minutes. Any videos or books read to students should be used with some student response: written or oral/discussion. Videos should be used as a resource that supports the AKS aligned to the instructional calendar; there should be an instructional focus.
Field Trips and Fundraisers:
Please be on the lookout for guidance from Debbie. We will need to get these scheduled sooner rather than later.
Congratulations to Kenda and her leadership with the American Heart Association. We were #7 in the county for funds raised through the Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart. We raised a total of $4907.97! Way to go Harris TEAM! Let's make the goal $5000 this year!
I want to thank you for all you do to keep the focus on our students. I am so proud of the work you all do everyday! I know there have been a couple of bumps in the road with the new Synergy system (maybe more like sink holes than potholes) , and I know that collaborative planning is new and different as well, but you all have demonstrated patience and understanding, and it is appreciated! Your work is focused always on what is best for kids - thank you so much!
Have a great week!

Constitution Day
GCPS schools are asked to commemorate Constitution Day during the week of September 12- 16, 2016. Some resources available are:
1. The National Constitution Center will be providing an “interactive Constitution” that week that is a great way to incorporate the Constitution into our eClass course pages. It can be found at www.constitutioncenter.org.
2. Lessons for grades K–12 are available for free download from the Center's website athttp://www.civiced.org/index.php?page=constitution_day.
