We are all challenged to a new teaching method and delivery. I strongly believe that our children will rise to this challenge. The standards and expectations are the same as any other year.
Our tentative scope and sequence is as follows:
Unit 1: Forms and Types of Energy
Unit 2: Thermal Energy
Unit 3: Field Forces
Unit 4: Earth’s Changing Surface
Unit 5: Structure and Function of Ecosystems
Unit 6: Organisms and Adaptations

Social Studies with Mr. Zieky
Seventh Grade Social Studies focuses on Ancient History! Your kids will experience many exciting projects and activities which will help make Social Studies interesting and fun for everyone. Through these experiences, your seventh grader will move to eighth grade with a better understanding of history and how it relates to the world around them. Students will also be learning about US civics and government through current events. Being that it's an election year, a good portion of the fall semester will be dedicated to understanding the 2020 US elections.
How to succeed in Mr. Zieky's class - Be prepared for class, have a good attitude, show effort in classroom discussions, respond when called on, turn on cameras and microphones when appropriate, complete class work, show leadership, teamwork, have fun and work well with others during group activities. Above all else, work hard, have a good attitude and HAVE FUN.

Math with Mrs. McGovern
Happy back to school! In case you didn’t know, I’m Mrs. McGovern. I am the math teacher on Violet this year. It is my first year at Fuller Middle School. However, this is my 9th year teaching. I have taught 5th, 6th, and 7th grade math as well as 6th grade science. I have two daughters of my own, a 2 year old and a 5 month old. They definitely keep me busy! While this remote setting isn’t ideal, I know that everyone can work together to make this a successful year and make the best out of a weird situation. Please know that I am here to support all of my students so if you ever have any questions or concerns I am an email or a phone call away.
One of the biggest resources to use this year is Canvas. Canvas contains assignment information, resources such as notes, and the daily agenda. From the home page, the daily agenda can be accessed. Resources, assignments, and some grades are available on the navigation bar on the left side of the page. All grades can be found in Aspen.
The grading breakdown for the first trimester is as follows:
10% - Participation such as chat questions, responding when called upon, and
turning on camera when asked
20% - Formative such as quizzes and exit tickets
25% - Summative such as tests
45% - Classwork such as assignments on Canvas, IXL, Khan Academy, etc.
If at any point you have questions about your student’s grades, attendance, or behavior please reach out. I want to make sure that everyone has a successful year.
Guided Academics with Ms. St. Peter
Hello! I am Ms. St. Peter and I co-teach Math and ELA with Ms. Paradiso and Mrs. McGovern. I also teach Guided Academics which is a class that a small number of students take in lieu of a world language. In Guided Academics the students receive instruction intended to supplement the content in their core academic classes, particularly ELA and Math. In class the students are given the opportunity for extra time to process, review and preview the curriculum and content delivered in the general ed classrooms. We work on foundational skills needed to be successful in the four content classes. Additionally, Guided Academics targets study skills, organizational skills and other areas of executive functioning. This year we are excited to begin using a new curriculum across all three grade levels to implement direct instruction for executive functioning skills. It's a great space to slow down, connect, ask questions and reflect on all of the new information and skills we are going to use this year.

All of these links can also be accessed through clever, but here is an overview so you can be more familiar with websites your student uses most frequently:
IXL - a program students can use to practice skills in all four core subjects.
Newsela - a news/reading platform where students practice literacy skills.
