Great Start to 23-24!
Now is the time when classroom expectations and homework start to increase. You will see that homework is coming home more often and tests begin to start after each standard or unit. Here are a couple of helpful tips on how you can help your child be successful with these new expectations.
- Have a routine for homework. Is it done right away when they get home or right after supper? Make a plan and stick with it.
- Ask them to show you their planner. They should be using something to keep their assignments and upcoming projects organized.
- Check Infinite Campus for missing assignments and grades. If a grade is not where the student would like it to be, make a plan for the student to talk to that teacher.
We want all students at Pella MS to grow both academically and in their organizational skills. Thank you for helping them at home to make this a great year.

If you have any athletic questions, please reach out to your son or daughter's coach or Mr. Fynaardt.
Counseling Services
What does this mean for your student?
Any student may be referred to receive therapy services. These sessions will take place at school, are free of cost, and are available for the duration of the academic year. The providers will work under supervision of a Licensed Clinical counselor.
If you would like your student to begin visiting with a counselor here at school or have questions, please feel free to call, or email me at jourdan.vanwyk@pellaschools.org for more information.
In addition, small group rotations will begin in the near future. The first small group to take place is Grief Group. Sessions will cover stages of grief, coping skills, and establishing or identify support systems. If you would like me to speak with your student about this opportunity please call or email me. I'm looking forward to providing this support for students!
Staff Spotlight - Officer Monarchino
The presence of Officer Monarchino will be visible in various areas of Pella Middle School, including the halls, classrooms, and cafeteria. If you see him, be sure to introduce yourself and welcome him to our school!
