STATEWIDE SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE 3
continuous learning dashboard
Lessons will continue on the Digital Dashboard until May 13th, which is student last day of school. However, the dashboard will remain up all summer for learning opportunities if missed.
Procedure for Student Materials PICK UP DAYS and school items to be picked up or dropped off
Dear Families,
We know that some students left some items in their desks and cubbies before Spring Break while others didn't leave behind much at all! This is your only opportunity to pick up student items left at school. You are NOT required to come to student material pick-up if you would prefer to maintain social distance for everyone’s safety, and any unclaimed items will be recycled or disposed of, as appropriate.
We are offering two opportunities for families to come to Washington Irving to pick up and drop off items. Monday, May 18th and Wednesday, May 20th, we will have staff available to help coordinate the pick-up of items from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. No one will be allowed to enter the building as we will have staff members retrieve items for you.
We anticipate that the spring individual and class pictures will arrive before then and can be put in your student's bag but we have learned yearbooks will not be ready by that point so there will be another pick up scheduled for yearbooks at a later date.
It is important to note that any items not retrieved by the end of May 20th will be disposed of by school personnel.
The days you can pick up your child’s materials from school has been set for May 18th and May 20th. Pick up times will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am and from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. There will NOT be pick up during the 11:00-11:30 time frame.
The procedures are as follows:
4 pick-up locations:
Last name A-G will pick up in the bus loop located on the north side of the building
Last name H-M will pick up in the north car loop
Last name N-T will pick up in the south car loop
Last name U-Z will enter into campus the same as the south car loop but will go forward into the parking lot on the south side of the building (where teachers usually park) and will exit out the south car loop entrance
There will be signs to direct you for each entrance.
Please have a sign in your front windshield listing your child’s name "last name, first name”. (This can be your car tag if you still have it) This sign needs to be written in marker and big enough so it is easily read from a short distance.
You MUST stay in your car.
Open your trunk (remotely) or someone will open it for you and place a closed bag in your car for you that contains all materials that belong to your child or children.
If you need to pick up medication from the school please let the teacher who is helping know and it will be brought out to you. You will need to show your ID and you will need to sign a form. Please bring your own pen.
If you have a library book or anything else that needs to be returned to the school please bring it with you and the teacher helping will take these items from you and put them in a receptacle as. Do NOT bring anything to the school that is not property that needs to be returned.
If you have children that do not have the same last names you will need to go through the appropriate loop for each child. Please pull through the loop then exit and then pull into the next loop according to your child’s last name.
If you have any questions please call the school and a secretary or administrator can help you.
Fifth-grade graduation and celebrations:
As desperate as your fifth graders are to celebrate their time at WI, we are too. However, it's just too soon to commit to options. As the school closure continues, options will be pursued and communicated.
Enrollment related items and May 1st Annual Update opens for all
Parent Portal is required to be updated annually. This is called Annual Update and is for currently enrolled EPS students so that parents can review and edit information held in the Infinite Campus system. This allows for any changes that need to be made to be taken care of.
Parents will need to complete an Annual Update for 2020-2021 by logging into the Parent Portal (not the Campus Parent app). Upon login, scroll down and select "MORE" in the lower left corner of your portal screen, then select "Online Registration", then select "Annual Update". You will verify your existing information and make any needed changes. The Annual Update must be completed for your student(s) to receive their 2020-2021 schedule or homeroom teacher/classroom placement.
For questions or login issues related to the parent portal, please contact your school site or email parentportalhelp@edmondschools.net.
If your family will not be returning to Edmond Public Schools for the 2020-2021 school year, please let your current school(s) know or email parentportalhelp@edmondschools.net as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Edmond Public Schools
Parents/Guardians: If you are planning on moving or if you have recently moved, please check with our Boundaries Map to make sure you are aware of the schools associated with the new address.
Pre-enrollment forms for 2020-2021: Since we don't know when we will be back to the school and our Registrar needs to work on enrollment for next year, please complete this online form in lieu of the form that came home before Spring Break. https://forms.gle/tjfbXZ1C9fqb8atz7
Enrollment procedures: If you know of someone that is moving into our school boundary and needs to enroll for the remainder of this school year, please have them visit the Edmond Public Schools website at www.edmondschools.net for further instructions.
Upcoming Fifth Graders Leadership opportunities
Dear parents,
During a normal school year, the fourth grade teachers would be sending home paper forms for you and your children to fill out in order for them to apply for a 5th grade service job next year. Because of the current situation, this year the application will be a Google form that you and your child will fill out online. Please look at the special drop off and pick up times of several of the jobs before allowing your child to commit to one of them. It will be your job for dropping your student off at school and picking up. Please know that we do our best to give students their first choices, but they are not promised. The teachers will meet and look over the applications to decide who would best fit into each job. Unfortunately, not every student who fills out an application will receive a job, but we do our best to assign one to as many as possible. If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher. Thank you so much.

Other Resources
Whatever you are going through, whatever your student is feeling, you don't have to navigate it alone. There are many free community resources available to you and your family.
- CallSAM - Mercy and its caring staff members have partnered with EPS to better meet the needs of students who experience anxiety, depression, drug addiction or suicidal ideation. CallSAM (Student Assistance by Mercy) is a 24-hour helpline (1-855-225-2726) that allows families to get assistance any time day or night.
- Project 66 is a local food distribution pantry located at 2612 S. Kelly Ave
Edmond, Oklahoma 73013. You can contact them at (405) 341-1353 to see if you are eligible to receive a donation and to find out about distribution times - Heartline Oklahoma is our local 211 provider to provide answers and information to Oklahomans. You can also navigate to heartlineoklahoma.org for online resources, or text your zip code to 898-211 for assistance.
New EPS Mobile App
Edmond Public Schools Launches Mobile App to Keep Community Informed and Involved
Edmond Public Schools has launched an official mobile app designed to enable parents, staff, and students to stay informed and up-to-date on important issues, information, and activities underway within the school community. The free app is available for download in the Apple and Android app stores by searching for Edmond Public Schools.
The app features push notifications so that users may be notified about important events, announcements, and news in real-time. Users have the ability to choose which of the district’s schools they would like to follow, making their app experience personal and school-specific.
Key features include:
· Push messaging from both the district and school sites
· News
· Google Calendars
· Online grade book and attendance
· Lunch Menus
· Athletic Information
· Language Translations
The mobile app replaces the district's previous app, SchoolWay, which abruptly ceased operations last summer. The app was developed in cooperation with Intrado, provider of School Messenger solutions.
