Preschool News
May 4, 2017
Dear Families,
We have completed our “Birds” project this week. We have been really pleased to watch how engaged the preschoolers became with the activities in this project. Time has been flying by and we are about to start our final project of the year which is “Life in the Ocean”. We started this project today by watching a video clip from the Ocean Annie series called “Dive into Your Imagination”. We will be viewing another clip, “What Makes a Fish a Fish” from this series and another one called “The ABC’s of the Ocean”. These videos will provide us with visuals that will almost make it feel like we are right there in the ocean. This should be fun!
Some of the books we will be reading are: A House for Hermit Crab, Swimmy, One Lonely Seahorse, and Ocean Counting, We will practice crab walking, try to make boats float and sink, and explore sea shells. We will also count pearls in shells and play “Go Fish”. We will be painting many kinds of fish at the easel to create an ocean mural. And we are going to make ocean bottles to take home.
There are many ocean songs that we are going to be singing, including: “Octopus”, “Down by the Ocean”, “1, 2, 3, 4, 5” and “Baby Beluga”. We are going to use our imaginations to dive under the parachute ‘ocean’, jump the rope ‘waves’ and take the dolls to the 'beach'. We also have one more nature walk this year which will be a 'rock collecting' walk.
We hope to have lots of fun with this project as we get ready for summertime and for saying “good-bye” to many of our friends who will be going to kindergarten in the fall.
Please let me know if you have any questions about this our anything else in the program. And, as always, thank you for your cooperation.
Sincerely,
Eileen
