YOUR FAQ
Is there a time by when we need to have our lessons posted for the day?
Special area teacher must post lessons for the day by 8:15. Classroom and other teachers must post their daily checklists by 8:15. Here are two examples of checklists: weekly and daily
Where do I find the pacing guides for ELA, math, science, social studies?
On the Curriculum Lib Guide, click on the remote learning tab
What happens if I'm not following the pacing on the guides?
We need to do our best to slow down or catch up. Printing the guides and annotating them may be helpful to you.
Should I preview my lessons on Accelerate before I assign them?
100%, absolutely, positively, YES!!!
Science and social studies doesn't follow the same sequence and units that we teach.
We know. Plan to bounce between semesters A and B in Accelerate and consult your pacing guides. Still unsure? Contact Dr. Lehmann who would be happy to meet and talk through your questions.
When are duty schedules coming out?
I'm working on them as we speak, and I'll have them sent to you before Monday morning. I appreciate your patience and flexibility.
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING
If you need to request more PPE such as hand sanitizer, boxes of face masks, send the request via email to Mr. Mike.
Next week, Deb will put a magnetic cleaning visual in your mailbox. Begin using upon receipt.
How to Use the Magnetic Cleaning Visual
During the day if you need or would like your room spot cleaned in high traffic areas, then put the magnet on your outside door frame. This will alert Pat Bell to come into your room. Pat will place the magnet on the inside door frame once he is done.
If you need to go onto a live session and would not like him to come in bring your magnet back in. He will not enter your room if he does not see the magnet on the outside.
The rooms are also cleaned by the custodial staff in the evenings. This is just to keep up on high traffic areas. (door handles, light switches, etc.)
TEACHER SUBSTITUTES
AESOP
All absences are logged into AESOP (sick, personal, other, bereavement). When requesting a sub, it is for supervision purposes; hence, a cyber teacher is not requesting a sub, but a blended teacher is requesting a sub.
Emergency Situation
If you are unable to create your asynchronous day in Google Classroom due to illness or other emergency, you must notify us via email at evoffice@ojrsd.net or by calling Christine at 484-500-5061.
Cyber Academy Teachers
Personal Days - notify parents and students in advance of the asynchronous day. Student attendance will be marked upon teacher's return. Post the daily checklist in Google Classroom.
Sick days - notify parents and students of the asynchronous day. Student attendance will be marked upon teacher's return. Post the daily checklist in Google Classroom.
Blended Plan Teachers
Personal Days - notify parents and students in advance. Student attendance will be marked by substitute. Teacher leaves sub plans for asynchronous day for in-person students and posts asynchronous work for at-home students. Post the daily checklist in Google Classroom.
Sick Days - notify parents and students. Student attendance will be marked by substitute. Teacher leaves sub plans for asynchronous day for in-person students and posts asynchronous work for at-home students. Post the daily checklist in Google Classroom.
- Substitutes will have access to a Chromebook and OJR log-in information, including Google Classroom access.
- Your sub should have behavior expectations, accommodations, health needs, emergency plans, and schedules for in-person students.
- Your sub should have your current class list.
Other Expectations:
No synchronous instruction will occur for the day, including class meetings. Your class meeting should be pre-recorded for a personal day.
Your teacher-led small groups will not occur for the day.
Post in your Google Classroom stream and on top of the daily checklist that you will be “unavailable for the day.”
If no sub is assigned to the job, any in person students will go to a grade level partner if there is room available per the OJR Health and Safety Plan.
TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
Technical difficulties are inevitable. Similar to how we plan for scenarios B, C, D, (you get the idea), plan for what students should do during the technical difficulty.
Example:
If Ms. Seeley experiences a technical difficulty, you should remain muted on the call. While you wait you may...
1. Take a quick bathroom break
2. Grab a quick snack or drink
3. Work on other school work or homework
4. Read a book
5. Write in your journal
This may be a good visual to share with students and their parents/guardians to post in their home classroom spaces too.
UPCOMING SUPPLY ORDER
Deb will be placing a supply order soon. If you have money left in your budget and you need something, contact Deb by September 29th.
REITERATE IN YOUR WEEKLY COMMUNICATION TO PARENTS
Remind parents/guardians where they can find your Back to School Night recording and/or slides.
OFFICE REMINDERS
In the workroom, please return color paper to the cabinets. We're running into waste issues because it gets left out and dirty, crinkled, etc. or it stays in the copier and gets used when someone intended to use white paper. Just be mindful because it affects our budget. Thanks!
The office copier (behind Deb and Karen) should be used for color copies only. For black and white copies, you should use the workroom, innovation center, or science lab.
Attendance is recorded during Morning Meeting. For now, if a student arrives before 8:50, then they are marked as present. If a student arrives after Morning Meeting, then they are marked late. Attendance must be submitted by 9:15 a.m. each day. We need to do a better job with submitting attendance in Skyward by 9:15.
If a student is marked absent and arrives later in the day, please remember to send an email to Karen or call her at x5714.
WELCOME TO OUR STUDENT TEACHERS AND INTERNS
STUDENT TEACHER, TAJAMEIR SMITH
Hey everyone, my name is Tajamier Smith. I currently am a senior at Cabrini University. I am studying to be a teacher. I have a passion for teaching. Some hobbies of mine included playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and coaching. I am so excited for this experience and to be working with everyone here at East Vincent Elementary School.
STUDENT TEACHER, ALEXIS CAPUTO
Hello! My name is Alexis Caputo, and I am a senior Education Major at Cabrini University. I am from West Chester, Pennsylvania. I am currently living on campus at Cabrini, however, at home I live with my mom, dad, sister (Hannah), and dog (Samantha). I currently work on campus at the library and as a peer tutor, and off-campus at Loft. My favorite things to do are watch movies or Netflix with my sister and friends, stroll the aisles of Target, and listen to music. I am so excited to begin my final field and student teaching placement at East Vincent Elementary.
STUDENT TEACHER, KAYLYN RICHARDS
Hello everyone!
My name is Kaylyn Richards and I am lucky enough to be a new student teacher at East Vincent Elementary. I will be working with Mrs. Sharrer until October 16th and then I will be transitioning to my first grade placement at French Creek. I graduated from Pottstown High School in 2015. While I was attending Pottstown High School, I was in Choir and Trojans 4 A Cure. I was also a dual enrollment student my junior and senior year. I was beyond grateful that I was selected to begin my college career early. After high school I continued my education at Montgomery County Community College and transferred to West Chester University in 2017. Now, I am currently a senior studying Early Elementary Education and Special Education. In my spare time, I love to hike, travel, paint, and spend time with my family. I have been dreaming of becoming a teacher for as long as I can remember! Thank you for letting me be a part of your East Vincent family!
Go wildcats!

"Wellness Wednesday" is sent by Chrissie each Wednesday morning. It is quick and easy to read...and there may be a prize involved if you participate ;-) Remember, taking care of yourself and finding balance doesn't have to mean a complete life overhaul...one or two simple tweaks to your day can make all the difference in your sanity and health!
Resources for your care as well as ideas to implement for student SEL are added to the shared 2020/21 SEL Resources drive all the time, so use it to simplify your planning (which also helps your mental health) for morning or afternoon meetings, fun activities to break up the day, etc. Sharing is caring!!!
Revisit your index card from Day 1...implement just 1 if you haven't already!
If you are really struggling, please check out the "staff check-in" form in the drive...LEAN IN!

You may have noticed the brown bags along the counter in the mail room. Please take a moment to jot birthday notes to our colleagues. All supplies are located in the main copy room--just write a quick note and drop it in the birthday person's bag. Bags will be distributed at the end of the month, so you still have time to catch our September birthday friends. Thanks for sharing some love with our staff! :-)
T-Shirt orders have been placed! They are tentatively due to arrive around the end of September. You will hear more from the Climate & Culture committee about distribution when they arrive.
Finally, we thank the REA for their gifts of masks to all employees!
Finding small ways to stay connected will help us focus on our theme of unity this year.
