FAREWELL 2019-20
SUMMER BREAK JUNE 18-AUG 31
Message from Principal Williams
Hello Skyhawk Families!
Here we are wrapping up another school year, and what a year it was. I want to take the time to thank you one more time for your patience and your partnership as we quickly shifted to an online format to close out our year. As I have mentioned, this was not something that any of us signed up for, but thanks in large part to your support at home, the last three months have been as successful as possible. We know that we were not able to cover as much ground this year as we would have normally. Knowing that, our focus this summer will be on adjusting our practice for next year to accommodate for the effects of the shutdown. First and foremost, however will be a focus on the emotional well-being of our students and our staff. Being out of school has been difficult, so we want to make sure the emotional recovery comes first.
The immediate question is what will school look like next year? As I write this today, I don’t have that answer yet. The goal is to be back in the buildings as much as possible next year while still meeting the guidelines set out by the state department of health. We are working on this plan as a district and we will be communicating with you this summer as we work out the details. Stay tuned for more information.
In the meantime, be sure to explore the links in this newsletter. Reading is a great way to maintain those academic skills for students this summer and the Camas Public Library has ebooks available for check out this summer. We are also still in need of donations for our resource center, so if you can help out, please consider donating this summer.
We have thoroughly enjoyed the time that we got to spend with our students this year, both in the traditional face-to-face setting at the beginning of the year and in the virtual world that closed out the school year. Thank you to everyone who was able to come and celebrate with us this week in the drive through celebrations. Those days were perhaps more important to us as a staff than they were for the students. We missed seeing our kids in person, so we created this experience for our benefit as well. I hope you enjoyed them as much as we did.
If you were not able to make it and still need to drop off items to the school, we will be here next week. There is a drop off box located at the front door. If you ordered a yearbook and were not able to pick it up, we will be making some deliveries to homes next week as well. Please reach out to us if there is anything else that we can do to help wrap up the school year.
I hope you all have a great summer. Stay safe out there!
