It Takes More to be a Bulldog
Dear Parent(s) and/or Guardian(s)
Within this newsletter, you will find preliminary plans for the start of the 2021-2022 school year. I know that many are waiting to see what the new year will bring. We share this information in hopes of continued collaboration and partnership. As I have stated in the past, this plan is far from perfect - there is no perfect plan for what we have gone through and what we continue to face. However - this plan has taken all of the resources, information, and collective efforts we have that are unique to Butler, and placed them all into a well-thought out, coordinated effort to care for our children's academic, social, and emotional needs. I acknowledge that some may not agree with every decision, and that is okay - I only ask that you work to understand the rationale behind those decisions, and partner with us as we traverse this path together. The one thing I can say is that no other school district cares for your children more that we care for our Bulldogs. Every decision has been made from a position of what is best for children as a collective whole. None of the decisions were taken lightly, and the leadership team worked hard to ensure that all things were taken into consideration.
In the end, we are excited for a return to full day schooling, with all students in attendance every day. We look forward to hearing full hallways, seeing engaged classrooms, watching a concert, seeing the play, cheering for our teams. We look forward to fall days, classroom celebrations, and awards. We look forward to doing what we love to do - work in service of children.

Curriculum and Instruction
As you may recall, we worked with our students and staff last year to see what types of elective courses they would like to see at Butler High School. We are proud to have taken that feedback and then worked to create courses aligned to this feedback. Below is a presentation outlining these new courses. During the 21-22 school year, we will begin the good work of now creating elective courses at Richard Butler Middle School for future implementation.
