Prestwick Honored

On Tuesday evening, March 29th, David Montemayor and I attended the Urban Land Institute Impact Awards Gala Dinner and Ceremony in Dallas representing Little Elm ISD and the Prestwick STEM Academy as guests of Matthews Southwest, the developers of The Tribute.

Prestwick was nominated in the Influence category by Matthews Southwest as a public/private partnership. Prestwick made the final three in this category and last night won the Impact Award in this category. Other finalist included Legacy, submitted by the City of Plano and Oak Cliff Gateway Expansion submitted by the City of Dallas. So, great folks in the finals of this category and we came out on top.

As an attachment, a picture of Kristian Teleki Senior VP for Development from Matthews Southwest, David, and me with the award. I got to go on stage along with the Mayor of The Colony and Mr. Teleki to receive the award. There were approximately 700 people in attendance.

My best,

Lowell Strike

Snapshots of Learning

Real Solutions Explores Endangered Species

Coming Soon, an art gallery of endangered species across the globe. Real Solutions is studying wildlife trading and its effect on habitations. To conclude their study they are creating an art gallery to provide knowledge to those that are not aware it's an issue and they can help right from Little Elm by not buying items made from the parts and sources of wildlife.

4th Grade Goes to Austin, Texas

Prestwick 4th grade students visited Austin Thursday, April 7th, to learn about Texas history and see our state government in action. Their day long tour included stops at the State Capitol and the Bob Bullock Texas History Museum. During the bus ride, students continued to learn via videos and games. Most importantly memories were made and we took learning beyond our school walls.
