"Tell me I forget. Teach me I remember. Involve me I learn."
Our Journey's selection this week is called Dangerous Crossing by Stephen Krensky. We are focusing on cause and effect as well as visualizing the text to better our comprehension skills. Our essential question is "What effect can one person have on history?". On Friday of this week (4/8) we will take our vocabulary, comprehension, and grammar tests for lesson 11.
In writing this week, we finished a multi-paragraph piece in writing. We will continue working on introduction and concluding paragraphs along with color coding our work.
In science this week we will be moving forward with our unit in learning about animal ecosystems. At the end of the Living Systems unit, each student will complete a project focused on an ecosystem of their choice.

Wonder by R. J. Palacio
Together, each fifth grade classroom has read the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio. This book encourages us to "choose kind" and think of others before acting. We LOVE Wonder, manly because of its incredible courageous main character, Auggie Pullman. I would encourage all of you to read this book with your child(ren). There are so many wonderful life lessons to be learned!
