3rd Grade
KSDE Teaching Standards
Fluently multiply and divide within 100, using strategies such as the relationship between multiplication and division (e.g., knowing that 8 × 5 = 40, one knows 40 ÷ 5 = 8) or properties of operations. By the end of Grade 3, know from memory all products of two one-digit numbers.
OBJECTIVES
2) Students will be able to show knowledge of multiplication by using the whisper/loud technique.
ACTIVITY
-Each group will be assigned a single digit number
-Group will come up with actions similar to the whisper/loud technique used as the example.
EXAMPLE: Rolling arms 4 times then jumping for multiples of 5
-Groups will multiply their number up to 10.
EXAMPLE:
-Multiples of 3: 3x1, 3x2, 3x3, 3x4, 3x5, 3x6, 3x7, 3x8, 3x9, 3x10
-Multiples of 6: 6x1, 6x2, 6x3, 6x4, 6x5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9, 6x10
-Once groups come up with their own actions, they will perform their actions for one of us and then will receive CANDY!
