Welcome, Bienvenido, Laskavo prosymo, hwan-yeonghada!

We are excited to have you all back for the 2022-23 school year. Our teachers have been working hard to get ready for the new year. We have a few new teachers, a change in how students get their lunch, and we get to return to having assemblies and grade level performances in our multipurpose room. Each year we have a few teacher changes, and this year is no different. Along with some new classroom teachers we now have Mrs. Cataldo as our librarian. She has redone the library and is eager to open it up. This year students will be picking up lunches from the Christensen Cafe each day. This is great news. We have before and after school childcare options for parents again this year. Students can attend full time or drop in on the days you need extra help. You can find childcare information on the Franklin Pierce web site by looking for Right At School to get more information on times and fees. Do not wait, get registered today. Parent drop off areas will continue to be in our parking lot loop or at the front of school in the drop off lane. Drop off begins at 8:45 each day. Pick up from the classroom can begin at 3:15 or take place in front of school after all the busses have left our bus circle.

This is going to be the best year ever here at Christensen. We are ready to work hard, have fun and see our students grow. Happy New Year!

Drop off Changes Starting, Wednesday, April 20th

Dismissal Procedures

Parents can go to classrooms to pick up their children starting at 3:15. Parents we ask that you wait at the front of school until this time.

Parents please wait in the front of the school. Students will be dropped off in the gym and then move to the front of the school when busses are pulling out. Parents will be able to pick their kids up from there.

Schedule Changes

The end of the day at Christensen is a hectic time! If you forgot to send a note in the morning and need to call the office with a change to your child’s schedule, please do so before 2:40. After 2:40 the office is busy assisting students and parents and may not be able to answer your call or get a message to a student before they leave for the day. All end of day schedule changes must be made through the office, not with the classroom teacher. The office will ensure the teacher is informed of the change.

Sexual Education

Opportunity for Grade 4-5 Families (

WA PREP for Healthy Youth knows that strong parent/caregiver engagement is a key component of young people’s health, safety, and well-being. This is true in every area of their lives, including Comprehensive Sexual Health Education (CSHE) implementation. WA PREP is recruiting parents/caregivers and young people to review eLearning micro-modules. All pilot participants will be paid for their time. These modules will focus on engaging, age-appropriate content and supports to guide conversations with young people around CSHE-related topics.

This work will take place virtually in mid-September. If you are interested in this opportunity or have questions about the process, please email WA PREP director Christine Hagstrom, at chagstrom@cardeaservices.org.
