US Counseling & Advisory Newsletter
4th March, 2022
Dear Students,
How did February fly so fast?
We began February with the Grade 10 Career Exploration Advisory that allowed all grade 10 students to access two important Career Inventories in their MaiaLearning account. They were guided by Tessa, their Counselor, to do the Interest Profiler and Personality Inventories.
At the end of the Interest Profiler Inventory, participants were matched with Careers based on their Interest Profile and results that are based on Dr. John Holland's 6 personality types. These students were then able to read through their unique profile and see the careers, university programs, even the U.S. Median Salary that their interests were matched with. They were also able to see which of their matched careers are growing rapidly, have openings and the Responsibilities, Education Level, Academic Knowledge and Skills that are needed to thrive in the careers that they were matched with.
On the other hand, the Personality Inventory was based on Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (16 personality types). These results were also matched with a variety of corresponding career pathways.

Another highlight of February was Career Day on Feb. 22nd.
A Career Day is designed to meet specific learning objectives. It helps students connect what they are learning in school with the workplace. They listen to speakers, seeking information about the industry and the career options it provides.
We know from our professional work that the exposure to varied, differing, cutting edge, and established fields can so wonderfully inform students. Your transition is made smoother when students like you also have opportunities to develop a strong sense of self and our Careers Day presentations are meant to contribute to that.
To enhance and reinforce of all what you have learned in the Month of February, we encouraged and continue to encourage all Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors to go over all the Career inventories done on the MaiaLearning Platform and read through the results thoroughly. Freshmen will begin this process next year.
I also encourage all students, from Freshmen to Seniors, to go through this Newsletter as well as all the previous ones, which are linked at the end. In each Newsletter please scroll down to the section on Career Guidance and go through all of them thoroughly. All this information was curated to help you make informed decisions leading to your future careers.
So although February is known to be the month of love❤️, it was also the month of deep Career Explorations in our Upper School. I hereby invite you to go through and enjoy this Career Day newsletter edition!

Thank you for inviting me to the Career Day 2022. It was a well organized activity; everything went smoothly. I myself enjoyed the Keynote Speech a lot. I am happy with the interest students showed to my area. They asked a lot of smart questions touching different areas of my profession, which I enjoyed answering.

❤️What other Career Day speakers are saying!❤️
Vladimir Vava Atanackovic
Chief Executive Officer Carlsberg Serbia Group
"The day was very well organized, I felt welcomed from the moment I stepped in to the school yard, nice smiley people from the very beginning. But most of all I would like to say a big thanks for the support received by my "guidance" Teachers, Mr. Overstreet and Ms. Francy as they did their best to keep the students actively involved in the conversation.
Last but utmost important to mention in few words is about the group of students I've had the honor to stand in front and share my experience: from grade 9 to 12 they showed maturity in thinking and high interest in their future career options...they were active, putting the right questions and seriously getting involved in the discussion.
As I said already, they represent the future leaders of the world. I congratulate the teachers for preparing them so well and wish the students good luck in choosing the right path after their high school graduation!"
