All things Together We Lead!
Mathematics
- Let's Get Curious: Let curiosity lead the way when you are planning for learning. During this session, we will help plan for ways to engage students by focusing on the invitation to learning within each lesson.
- Pick a Strategy, Any Strategy: During this session, we will investigate instructional strategies and Math Language Routines to support engagement and mathematical discussions in the classroom. Teachers will be able to effectively plan for learning using the strategies or MLR's for upcoming lessons.
- Planning for Tiered interventions in the Secondary Mathematics class: All that is expected for your PLC to begin Tier 2 instruction in the secondary math classroom including resources available and example protocols to use.
- Pre-unit Assessments to Guide Your Instruction in the Secondary Math Classroom: Determine student needs by looking at Savvas pre-assessment data. Using opportunities within the current lesson/task to close gaps in pre-requisite knowledge.
- K-8 Coherence of standards, from concrete to representational to abstract. How children learn mathematics: Participants will see various models from K--8 to understand how students are taught foundational standards conceptually.
Science
Secondary Science will be offering several sessions during TWL. We look forward to seeing you there:
Grade 6-8 Unit Launch and Updates for 21-22
Join us to see the updates and changes to the middle school science curriculum for 2020-21. Receive tips and tricks for easy navigation and planning utilizing the 5E maps. Experience a model lesson Science Academy style that you can use during the 1st unit of the year. Take part in Total Participation strategies meant to engage all learners and receive a collection of strategies to take with you. Attending this session should ignite your science planning for Quarter 1 before the official start of the year.
Social Studies
Secondary Social Studies will be offering a number of learning opportunities during TWL for teachers, coaches and administration. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Intentional Planning with the Social Studies Network: The session would show veteran teachers, coaches, and school-based administration the changes and updates to the Secondary Social Studies Learning network. There will also be an overview of the student interfacing courses that will be available to use with students if they chose to use them.
The DBQ Lead Certification Program: Engaging Teachers in Professional Growth: This session will provide instructional coaches, teacher leaders and administrators with an overview of the DBQ Lead program. DBQ Lead certification is a 15-hour course with quarterly follow-up sessions throughout the school year. A variety of scheduling options are available.
What's New with DBQ?: This session will highlight new features of the DBQ Online platform, new DBQ titles and preview additional professional development offerings including four new self-paced courses and the DBQ Lead Certification program.
DBQ Quick Write (Secondary Session): "Participants will experience DBQ Online from the student perspective with a DBQ Quick Write. What is a DBQ “Quick Write”? A DBQ “Quick Write” is a short DBQ-type lesson. The workshop is designed as a blend of content and process. The workshop is centered on the belief that thinking is clarified by writing. Join the discussion, as we explore ways to foster student led learning. "
Trace-based Cases: Using Diverse Texts to Engage Students In Learning About Florida: "In this webinar, we will provide an overview of topics in Florida's history and will investigate the current financial impact for businesses and individuals.
Decisionomics: Which Founding Father Should be on New U.S. Currency?: "During this session, we will engage educators with a decision-making lesson that includes information about Founding Fathers.
Economics of Ancient Greece: Sea, Silver, and Slavery: We will Identify and explain how Greek geography, natural resources, and human labor impacted the economic development and culture of Greek city states.
Post-World War II Prosperity and Disparity: The Economic Effects on American Society: We will analyze and explain the economic impact of the end of World War II on government spending, American culture, and racial equality.
America and the Global Economy: Lessons from the Turn of the Millennium: We will explore the impact of foreign events and the global economy on individuals and groups living in the United States between 1974 and 2021. This analysis will provide several lessons for government, businesses, institutions, and individuals as a guide for the future.
Using CFAs in Canvas: "This session would show the teachers how to use a CFA and three lessons to differentiate using Canvas.
High School Social Studies Digital Training and Updates: We will be reviewing how to the use Realize platform and the many new features that are now available on the platform along with changes that will be comes for back to school. This session would be for all SAVVAS/Pearson HS Social Studies programs on SavvasRealize.com
SEL/Compassionate Schools
Using the Lesson Planning Process to Level Up Your Instructional Game:
In this session we will practice using the SEL resources to incorporate into planning for a beginning of the year unit. We will also share ways to help build community into your classroom to kick the year off!
A Teacher's Survival Guide to Tier 1 Behavior:
Let's talk Tier 1 behavior! We will learn about the fundamentals of behavior as well as some easy strategies you can use to set your students up for success!
Mindfulness and Self Care for All:
Join us as we experience a variety of mindfulness and self calming activities that can be used anytime, anywhere! These strategies can be used for adults and students alike.
