News and Notes from the Principal
Just this week we welcomed all of our educators back to Richmond Hill High School and it was most certainly a homecoming of sorts! In the face of a pandemic, our educators have taken their time to plan and begin the necessary steps to prepare for a successful school year for both our E-Learners as well as those returning to the building. The dedication and resolve of RHHS educators during this time is second to none, they truly are essential and focused on tackling this opportunity head on!
For students/families that have opted for the E-Learning route, please know that the timing of your scheduled classes, attendance procedures & assignment requirements will mirror that of a typical face: face student. Our hope is to provide an optimal experience for ALL learners while utilizing a hybrid approach to instruction through Google Classroom & Google Meets. Teachers will maintain communication of attendance/grades through our PowerSchool Platform ensuring that parents have the most up-to-date information for their respective students.
For those of you selecting in-person schooling, please know that measures will be implemented to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 by re-arranging the way we do some of the following to include:
- Arrival/Dismissal - All students will report directly to 1st Block upon arrival
- Class Arrangement
- Class Change - We will utilize both interior & exterior exits
- Bathroom Usage/Cleaning
- Lunch - Lunch will be eaten in the classroom during scheduled times.
- Requirement of Face Coverings for ALL to respect and protect ALL!
- Instructional Areas/Bathrooms/Hi Touch Points sanitized between blocks
- Etc.
As a reminder, RHHS Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11. This year we are looking forward to hosting a virtual open house from 5:00-6:30. You and your child are welcome to view our Open House Video School Tour, explore our extracurricular offerings, access your class schedule via PowerSchool, learn more about your teachers through their pre-recorded informational videos posted to our website. You will also find out how to log in to each teacher’s specific Google Meets to speak with them in real time and ask questions as they arise from 5:00--6:30pm. Detailed information will be shared via Thrillshare messaging, email as well as posted to all of Richmond Hill High School’s Social Media Platforms prior to August 11.
Educators continue to show that they truly are the building blocks of our society and have the most creative solutions to turn a challenge into an opportunity! Thank you for your attitude of gratitude & support of the process that has been taken to ensure that RHHS continues to shine! Take a minute, thank an educator!
