The Long Goodbye
It feels this date has been looming forever. Thank you all for your patience through this unexpected transition in the Santellano world. Friday will be my last day before going on Maternity Leave. You will be in the best hands- amazing Interim Principal Mr. McClellan and Admin. Assistant Mrs. Wills. I will see you all in April (officially) but it will be hard for me to stay away from my St. John family for that long! Love, Mrs. Santellano
On Wednesday, December 21st, we will have an early dismissal at 12 NOON, students may wear pajamas, there will not be lunch served, but SANTA will arrive with treats and gifts! Remember, there is NO AFTER CARE on this day.
Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile
A visiting theater troupe will come tomorrow to perform the play Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile for our PreK through 4th grade students at 9:30 a.m. in the Hall of Heroes. The play is based on the famous children's book, and is also the subject of a new movie in theaters! Parents and younger siblings are welcome to join us for the fun.
Community Partner: Chicago State
The Dr. David Kanis Child Development Center is a new state of the art child development center at Chicago State University. The center is conveniently located in the education building on CSU's beautiful campus. Our team is currently recruiting families for Early Head Start and Head Start programs. Our Early Head Start is a home visiting program where the home visitor brings learning to families' (expectant moms and children from 6 weeks to 3yrs of age) in the comfort of their homes. The Head Start program is center based for children 3 yrs to 5 yrs of age. The center is not open; however, we do anticipate the center's opening in the near future. The programs are curriculum based and family centered (services provided by our family service worker). These comprehensive programs are designed to partner with families in our communities. The services are automatically free for families that receive SNAP or TANF benefits, children with disabilities, children under the guardianship of DCFS, and families that are homeless. Families can contact the center at 773-995-2585 to learn more or to schedule a tour. Families can also complete a recruitment form. The recruitment forms and flyers are located in the main office at St. John de la Salle. We look forward to hearing from the families or friends of families at SJDLS!
