Tess the Therapy Dog
Tess the Therapy dog had a great summer and is looking forward to visiting her favorite students again this year. Tess, along with Mrs. Goodman, are a therapy team registered with Pet Partners. Pet Partners is a national organization dedicated to enriching lives through the human-animal bond. Tess has been a therapy animal since 2020. Her primary places to visit are KCA and Medical City North Hills.
Tess spends her time at KCA with Mrs. Ortega in the counseling office. She seems to have a knack for knowing just what each student needs. She is gifted in helping students to increase their joy and decrease their stress. If you have any questions about the campus visits from our therapy dog, please contact Mrs. Ortega.

If your student will require medication for headaches, menstrual cramps or any other condition during the school day please bring the medicine to the school clinic so that the school nurse or designee can administer the medication to your student. AVID News
AVID Monthly Resource
Keller Collegiate Academy's goal is to encourage students to create a lifelong habit of service and giving back to their community and the world around them. Have you checked out your AVID teacher's Canvas page to find the Community Service Master List yet? This is a list of over 100 different locations in the DFW Metroplex that welcome volunteers (some have age restrictions or require adults to be present with you). We know that many of you have mandatory community service hours required in AVID and for some of your clubs on campus. Some of the 9th and 10th graders are also wanting to participate in Green Cord where you are striving to get 100+ hours of community service.

KCA Community Service Ambassadors:
Sunset Valley Elementary School PTA had their Back to School Bash and a few KCA Community Service Ambassadors made an appearance. The elementary students loved having the big kids there to help keep them safe in the bounce houses, having fun dancing with them in the gym, and walking around as the panther mascot. Being a community service ambassador is so much fun!
There is another opportunity to volunteer at Sunset Valley Elementary School at their Trunk or Treat event. It will take place on October 28th and will need a group of 5-6 students per decorated trunk to pass out candy and have an activity planned. They also need help with some of the different stations they will have there too. Please see your AVID teacher to sign up or get more information.

NJHS
Our first meeting will be on Friday September 16th during II Time. We will be voting on our new bylaws and talking about elections for officers. If you have any questions about NJHS please stop by her room, D107.
