Classroom News!
We are slowly winding down our rich study of wild bears and teddy bears. Your children are experts on bear facts! In Language Arts, each child illustrated their own puzzle with a fact about wild bears. The children are enjoying putting together each other's bear puzzles.
This week we focused on the Teddy Bear; how and when it originated. We read a wonderful book, "The Legend of the Teddy Bear" by Frank Murphy. We learned about Rose and Morris Mitchom who created and sewed the first teddy bears by hand. Inspired by their work, our children have started to sew and stuff their very own little teddy bears. This is a task that requires time and patience.
Big day at Writing Workshop this week! We've begun writing books!! We talked about the structure of a book and how writers use a page for each idea. The children learned they could use staples or tape to add pages to their books. We also talked about how writers often have helpers who offer ideas, suggestions and support. Stay tuned for future lessons about how to be a supportive writing partner.

Poem of the Week
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear turn around,
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground.
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, reach up high,
Teddy Bear, teddy Bear, wink one eye.
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, slap your knees
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, sit down please.
