Principal Brief

February 8-12

February! Wow! It is hard to believe that we have been in school for over 100 days! Feb. can be a difficult month for both teachers and students. This is the month, where we need to be reminded of how important relationships with our students are as well as finding ways to lift them up and encourage them. Relationships, by definition, is a two-way street. It requires two people's heartfelt effort. We can't expect our students to have faith and trust in us if we don't give them the same in return. When students are struggling and acting outside the conditions we have set for learning success, it throws us off. Authors Soers and Hall who wrote the book Fostering Resilient Learners explain how relationships with students need to be authentic and sincere. A few questions to think about this week.. What were the big lessons you learned from a great teacher in your life? Do you see any of that great teacher's characteristics in the way you teach and build relationships with your students? Can you invest time to give a student a pep talk?

"Children need to learn; if they don't have cookies in the cookie jar, they can't eat cookies." -Suze Orman

Lets fill the cookie jars of all of our Hartman students this week! Lets give some pep talks! Lets continue to build and rebuild relationships with our Cool Cats! Lets wear jeans all week and celebrate kids! Happy Love week!

Cafeteria Reminders- Please remind your parents (through your facebook page or newsletter) and students, that when parents come for lunch, students are not to bring friends to the booth, Booths are for the parent and student only. If parents would like to eat lunch with their child's class, at their child's lunch table, they may.
