Cookies For Kids Cancer Spirit Week (9/25-9/29)
September is National Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. Worldwide a child is diagnosed with cancer every three minutes. In the United States, cancer kills more children every year than AIDS, asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and congenital anomalies combined. Yet, the National Cancer Institute allocates .03¢ for every $1.00 to pediatric cancer research. How can we say our children are our futures when cancer is taking them before they have one?
This week as a school family, we would like to help bring awareness and raise funds to Pediatric Cancer Research. All Proceeds will be donated to Cookies for Kids Cancer a National 501(c) 3 non-profit committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved treatments for pediatric cancer. Many people will go a lifetime never meeting a child that endures chemo. Here at India Hook we have had 3 children experience cancer. No parent wants to hear their child has cancer! Letʼs help make a difference in a childʼs life, and show that we care. A donation of $3 for the week not only gives your child the opportunity to participate, but also help a great cause!!

New Attendance Law
This is an important new attendance regulation our school district will be following this year and going forward!!
The United States Department of Education Office of Civil Rights (OCR) defines an “Absent Student” as one who doesn’t attend 50% of the instructional day”.
Keeping this state law in mind, if your child arrives at school at 7:45 am they must be in class until 11:05 am in order for them to be counted present for the day.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office.
