Weekly Wrap-Up #23
Benedict A. Cucinella Elementary School
“There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.” – Colin Powell
Week 23: Last week at Cucinella was another exciting week capped off with a fun assembly sponsored by our PTO! The students had a blast during our "Dinosaurs Rock" assembly. The presenter Mr. Mike taught our students about fossils and gave our students opportunities to touch many different samples. At the end of the assembly, the students got to sift through sandboxes and take home a fossil of their choice.
Additionally, we celebrated our 100th day of school, and our fifth graders had their 1,000th day of school! There were fun activities happening all around the building, from special hats and sunglasses, to counting out 100 objects and dressing like we were 100 years old. I think it's safe to say that Thursday was a great day at Cucinella!
This coming week brings Valentine's Day! Students will be having their Valentine's Day celebrations at various times during the day depending on the grade level. We encourage students and staff to wear pink or red to celebrate this day of love, friendship, and kindness!

Donation From the Heart Community Project
The Kindergarten team would like to invite the awesome students of BAC to participate in a special community service project. We are collecting items to help stock a local pantry. These items will be donated to the Drakestown United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
The DUMC assists families in ours and surrounding communities. It is not affiliated with the LVCAP “Stuff the Bus.”
Donations will be accepted through the end of February.
Thank you for the many ways you support our students and the community!!!

ABSENCE PHONE LINE IS PERMANENTLY SHUT DOWN!!!
PickUp Patrol has been in effect since early November and we are very happy with the positive feedback we have been receiving from the parent community. As the year progress, we have been slowly integrating all the capabilities this program provides us with.
The next step of integration is we now exclusively use PickUp Patrol for recording your child's absences. Please click here to review how to use the program to record absences.
The absence line which was previously used to record absences has now been disconnected.
Our secretaries and nurse are no longer checking phone messages for absences. This information is now handled exclusively through the PickUp Patrol app. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to integrate this new attendance management system.
All of our parents and guardians should have received a "Welcome" email with details on how to download the app and set up your account. If you have not received an email, please check your SPAM folder. If you can not find the Welcome email, please contact our school secretaries and ask for a new one to be resent.
If you have not downloaded the app or set up your account yet, please do so as soon as possible.
Click here for more information about Pickup Patrol
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the secretaries, Mrs. Deanna Dargel or Mrs. Boomi Varathrajan.
