Indroduction to Polynomials

Polynomials consist of:

  • Variables and Coefficients
  • that only involve addition, subtraction, multiplication, and non negative integers

x2 − 4x + 7 this is a example of a quadratic polynomial


  • Polynomial: a monomial or the sum of monomial

  • Degree: the power of the exponent

  • Standard form of a Polynomial: has the terms in descending order by degree

  • Degree of a Polynomial: largest degree of any term of the polynomial

  • Monomial: a number, variable, or the product of a number and variable(s)
