Total Solar Eclipse: Event of a Lifetime

On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse will cross the entire country, coast-to-coast, for the first time since 1918.

Tennessee Eclipse History & Time Capsule Idea

Last time Nashville had a visible total solar eclipse was way back in 1478, roughly 539 years ago, well before Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

Do-It-Yourself Time Capsule- Students and teachers can create their own time capsule to commemorate the August 21, 2017 total solar eclipse for their school. When might you want it opened? Perhaps on April 8, 2024 when the next total solar eclipse crosses the continental United States! How old will you be then? What do you think you would like your younger self to have sent to you across 7 years of time?

NASA "Eclipse in Six"
