Camp Opportunities & Scholarships

Interested in 4-H Summer Camps and Trips? Register before April 15 and get a 10% discount! For a list of camps and dates visit the State 4-H Page! The Cuming County 4-H Camp Scholarship application is now available on our website under the Entry Forms section. Completed applications are due to the Extension Office by May 2.

Cuming County Beef Preview

Cuming County will be having it’s 42nd Annual Beef Preview next Saturday, April 16th. This event will be held at the Cuming County Fairgrounds in West Point. There is no pre-registration but all exhibitors need to be checked in by 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 16th. Check-in will run 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. with the show starting at 10:00 a.m. If you have any questions please contact the Office.

Shooting Sports Opportunity

Nebraska Extension in Washington County is hosting a Nebraska State 4-H Shooting Sports Certification training on April 16 and 17 at the Washington County Fairgrounds. 4-H'ers (age 8-18 on January 1, 2016) are invited to help with the practicum for the new instructors. If you want to see what the 4-H Shooting Sports program really is, this is your opportunity. Not only will youth get to try the archery and rifle disciplines, but there will also be a shotgun session (shooting clays). Youth will need to report to the Rybin Building on the fairgrounds (Arlington) by 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16. Youth will be placed into groups and assigned a discipline. The practicum will last until 5:00 p.m. Please contact the Office with questions about this event.

Horse Level Testing Deadlines

All level testing must be completed by April 28 for State and District entries. ID forms and entries are due May 13th to the Office. Level testing must be completed by July 21 for youth only competing at the County level. Our area District Horse Show will be held in Leigh on June 16, but youth are able to attend other district shows.

  5. Sign up to live in a learning community (optional)
  6. Participate in room selection
  7. Attend New Student Enrollment to set first semester schedule
  8. Prepare to move in and start a new adventure

Application Now Opens August 1

For the 2017-2018 academic year, the University will start accepting applications for admission on August 1, 2016. This is a month earlier than previous years because they would like to encourage more early applications and enrollment to their new True Red program. Power Up Weekend

Power Up Weekend is an optional extended orientation program where students stay on campus for the weekend, participate in New Student Enrollment, get to know the fellow first year students and familiarize themselves with campus. This year, Power Up will occur on Friday, June 10 through June 12. Its a great option for students who would like to go into their freshman year with a base of friends, support and familiarity.
