Happiness Advantage Training

The Happiness Advantage | Orange Frog Workshop was first introduced to Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) leaders in summer 2016. They were so impressed with the workshop and its many immediate and positive affects, they committed to become Happiness Advantage | Orange Frog Workshop presenters so they could train all GISD staff on the principles of positive psychology.

Since that time, nearly all GISD staff have participated in the workshop, and now GISD leaders are ready to bring the Happiness Advantage to you!

The Happiness Advantage | Orange Frog Workshop presented by GISD will cover key principles for creating a more positive and productive workplace and lifestyle. Participants will first learn to embrace the benefits of positive thinking and then learn how to share that positivity with coworkers, leading to a compounding effect inside the organization.

If the goals of your organization include finding ways to overcome adversity, improve engagement with staff and the community, or bring more gratitude and joy into your everyday culture, GISD can help!

For more information on how your district can benefit from the Happiness Advantage or to register for an upcoming training, please visit orangefrog.geneseeisd.org!

The following events have been postponed with the intention of being rescheduled this year. New dates/times TBD.

[POSTPONED] Cognitive Coaching Seminar

These sessions are designed to produce self-directed persons with the cognitive capacity for excellence both independently and as members of a community. Research indicates that teaching is a complex intellectual activity and that teachers who think at higher levels produce students who are higher achieving, more cooperative, and better problem solvers. It is the invisible skills of teaching, the thinking processes that underlie instructional decisions, which produce superior instruction. Cognitive Coaching™ is a research-based model that capitalizes upon and enhances teachers’ cognitive processes.

Add+VantageMR® (AVMR) Course 1 is a four-day course that includes dynamic, diagnostic, individual assessments in number words and numerals, structuring numbers, and addition and subtraction strategies. The assessment, data collecting, and teaching tools accelerate the educator's ability to recognize the students' current levels of numeracy understanding to make data-driven instructional decisions. AVMR is beneficial for anyone working or supervising others in the area of mathematics. It is most appropriate for pre-kindergarten through elementary, as well as for middle school educators who work with students that have fallen at least two years behind standards. AVMR Course 1 is a prerequisite to AVMR Course 2.

[POSTPONED] Adaptive Schools

The GISD will also be partnering with MASSP for the presentation of Adaptive Schools Seminar at the GISD beginning in August 2020!

This training not only explores what makes teams effective but how to develop skills as facilitators and knowledgeable group members in informal and formal settings of all group sizes. Participants will move beyond the idea of professional learning communities into the actual implementation, describing specific ways to weave the collaborative fabric of faculty, develop group member skills, and acquire the principles and understandings to engage a continuous cycle of a team and individual improvement. Adaptive Schools is the “how” of professional learning communities: how to behave in groups, how to lead them, and how to facilitate them for improved leading, teaching and learning.
