Survey on 2020-2021 School Year
Hi LPS Community!
I would like to take this opportunity to first thank all of our dedicated families and staff for all the hard work poured into supporting LPS students over this past couple of very unusual months. As this school year draws to an end, there are many unanswered questions as to what it will look like for the upcoming school year. There are no definitive answers as of yet.
We know that school as we have always known it will look different when we start back in the fall and I want you to know that we are working to address what those differences might look like. While we are uncertain as to what guidelines will be given by the Governor, the Texas Education Agency, or by our county judges, LPS will continue to focus on providing a high-quality option while we ensure the health and safety of our students and staff when we are able to welcome them back on campus.
There will be a need for multiple options to fit the needs of the guidelines we are under in the 2020-21 school year as well as to meet the needs of our LPS families. Options may include the following:
· School starts as normal with additional safety and health measures in place
· School starts in a “socially distant” instructional environment with some blend of face-to-face instruction on campus and online learning at home. There would likely be a rotation of on campus and at home for students.
· School starts in an at-home online virtual instructional environment
As with all decisions, the input of our families, staff, and students are of the utmost importance to us. In an effort to understand more about the priorities of the LPS community, we want your input as we prepare for the 2020-21 school year.
The survey will close on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 12 p.m. We look forward to your input as we plan for the upcoming school year.
As we have communicated from the first day we had to close our campuses, we cannot wait to have all of our staff and students return to face-to-face instruction. We miss having our buildings full of students and the joy that brings! We understand that any and all decisions will have an impact on you as a family and we are committed to keeping you informed and share any news we have regarding the new school year throughout the summer.
Parent partnership is one of the five tenants that LPS was founded and I hope to continue to work together in a positive and productive way. I hope you are able to enjoy this summer and we look forward to seeing all of you in August (or sooner through LPS social media)!
With my sincerest gratitude to be a part of such an amazing community,
Stacy Alton
