Highlights of Note from Joy Wright, Lead Learner and Principal
This week I witnessed partnership in action as parents/guardians and students spoke about learning during our conference days. I even had the pleasure of hosting conferences! Please be sure to complete our feedback survey below.
Thank you for your continued support of our fundraiser to support sending veterans on an Honor Flight.
I also appreciate the heart of many of our students and their plans to support those in need. Please clean out those movie collections over the weekend and donate to Allie's Mitzvah movies which will run through November 30th. We have another 8th grade student who is collecting new unwrapped toys for children in DCF care. Toys for toddlers and children up to 18 years old are welcome through November 25th. The MA that donates the most toys earn cocoa and cookies.

8th Grade PLAE is HERE!
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
We will be beginning 8th Grade P.L.A.E. Tuesday, December 1. P.L.A.E. will run every Tuesday morning from 6:40-7:40 by Ms. Lewis from the Garnet team. The activities during P.L.A.E. will vary but have a similar format to 6th and 7th grade P.L.A.E. We will be following the guidelines below for signing up and participating in P.L.A.E.
Student sign-ups will be outside Ms. Lewis’ room, room 227.
Students must sign-up each week by the end of the day Friday.
Monday, by 8th period, there will be a list of which students can come to P.L.A.E. for that week.
Students will be selected for the week by the first 20 to sign up who did not have any referrals or lunch detentions the previous week.
Students are expected to show up for P.L.A.E. on time. There will be a 5 minute leeway period, but if students are not in the 7th/8th grade gym by 6:45am, they cannot participate that day. They will sit in the gym to be supervised, but cannot participate in any activity.
Students will enter the building through the main entrance and walk down to the 7th/8th grade gym.
Students are expected to follow directions, listen to the teacher, and be respectful, responsible and good citizens.
Students must have an intramural waiver on file and have paid the intramural fee from this year to participate.
Students who do not meet the above expectations will be removed from P.L.A.E. and may not be able to participate in the future.
Please contact Rebecca Lewis at Rebecca_Lewis@whps.org with any questions or concerns.
FALL CONFERENCE FEEDBACK
Dear Parent/Guardian,
As you know, King Philip is engaged in an ongoing improvement process, where everyone is a stakeholder. As we reflect on the fall conference process we would like your feedback in a follow-up survey.
These survey results will help us target improvement strategies focused on our fall conference effectiveness. Please be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous and your honest opinions are appreciated. Please click here for the survey.
Your Partners in Education,
Chess Anyone?
Introducing: The King Philip Chess Program!
All students in grades 6 through 8 who are interested in learning to play chess are invited to participate in the introductory session, which will include a program orientation meeting for parents. Practice play and lessons from basic to beginning intermediate chess will be offered. Emphasis will be on developing basic skills and providing the opportunity for at least weekly practice play. The program will be a combination of group lessons and free play.
The program will hold an introductory session on December 15 at 6:00pm to determine students’ interest for a permanent school year-long program for 2015-2016. This would be a fee-based offering. Please complete the form here to indicate interest along with the best day and time.
