The Tell-Tale Heart

An Amazing Short Story By, Edgar Allan Poe

Long ago in Germany there was a old house with a old man and his care keeper. The care keeper had convinced his self he was not mad but really was. He said he loved the old man but his eye bothered him and made the care keeper want to kill the old man. The care keeper came up with a plot to kill the old man. Every night the care keeper would go the the old mans chamber to see if the eye was open but it never was. "I did this for seven long nights every night just at midnight but I found the eye always closed; and so it was impossible to do the work; for it was not the old who vexed me, but his Evil Eye."

After every night the care keeper would go to the old man and would be as nice and polite as he could be to the old man. On the eight night the care keeper was extra careful. He made a little noise opening his light. that woke the old man. The old man got up and yelled "Who's there?"

This made the care keeper mad and when he saw the eye he ran at the old man and killed. The care keeper then cut the old man in peaces and put him in the floor. A while after that three police men came because they where told the neighbor heard a scream. The care keeper told them to search the area. After a while they where still there and the care keeper began getting nervous. Finally he confessed "Villains!" I shrieked, "dissemble no more! I admit the deed! --tear up the planks! here, here! --It is the beating of his hideous heart!"
