SORing Champions!
B100 HALL STAND-UP!
The Whole Campus Reset is in full effect!
Thank you Mr. Ripoll and Mr. Villanueva for consistently being visible and active (at your doors) meeting, greeting, and checking your scholars every single passing period!
Your hallway progressively improved throughout the week. Scholars knew they would be held accountable for being on-time, in dress code, and prepared for instruction as soon as the bell rang! I saw scholars being accountable for their actions throughout the week, which in turn made your work easier!
Scholars want structure and your commitment to the process paid off this week! Keep up the great work in doing what's best for kids!
As a result of your commitment, please enjoy JEANS FOR A WEEK from February 10th - February 14th!

Campus Walkthroughs and T-TESS Observations
The T-TESS process has begun. Many administrators are conducting formal observations. Please remember that T-TESS is a growth model and that the formal observation is not indicative of your summative evaluation. The DHS administration values the coaching process and truly wants everyone to grow and be the best they can be.
Grading Requirements
- Teachers shall take a minimum of two formative assessment grades per week per 3 week grading period. (total of 18 grades for the report card)
- Additionally, three summative assessment grades shall be included per 9 week grading period.
Lesson Plan Expectations
As a reminder, the lesson frame should be two clear statements. The "We will..." should align to the standard and overall objective of the class. The "I will..." should be a concrete task that students are completing to show they have mastered the objective.
Here is an exemplar lesson plan for your reference.
Attendance Matters
Thank you for your support while we were in the process of hiring a new 10th grade attendance clerk. Ms. Rose Aguilar started on Friday, February 7th! Please give her a warm welcome!
It's the expectation that you record your attendance daily during our accounting periods (A - 2nd, B - 5th). We provide a bell each day to remind you. Should you need any assistance, contact Ms. Griffin.
Why does this matter? Attendance is LEARNING and FUNDING (for budding administrators). What does our data say based on what you are reporting daily.
ADA - 90.51%% FOR THE WEEKENDING FEBRUARY 6TH! - A warning of rain, cold, or even SNOW impacts our attendance. We experienced this impact last week.
Please assist with encouraging seniors to be at school and be on-time! Graduation is on May 27th, 2020!
Please remember to record attendance no later than the first 5 minutes of each period and by 9:05am during the funding period.
1. Field trips - it's vital to ensure A) you are submitting your attendance list 5 days in advance. This will allow attendance to pre-code your scholars whom are attending. Thank you to those using the standard form!
2. You MUST send an email to all attendance clerks and cc Ms. Griffin with any scholars that do not go on the planned field trip. We must change their field trip status in Skyward.
Do you have a scholar that is chronically absent? Please report them to the appropriate grade level administrator so we may develop a plan of support now!
#SchoolEveryDay
PBIS Tip Of The Week: Classroom Design
How does your classroom impact student behavior and learning? Do they offer a peaceful, organized space where kids can be efficient and effective? Or, are classrooms at your school negatively impacting student behavior and preventing learning?
TTESS Domain 3 - The Learning Environment Dimension 3.1 - Classroom Routine and Procedures specifically addresses the safety and security of your classroom. You can take it a step further by evaluating how your classroom may impact a student's response to different situations. Check out the tips below!
1. Clarify Your Vision for the Space
2. Make the Room Look and Smell Good
3. Have Healthy Snacks In Your Class
4. Strategically Set Up Desks and Assign Seats
5. Post an Agenda (Frame Lesson and Daily Agenda)
6. Consider Product vs. Process
7. Language is everything
8. Have a break or cool down space
9. Have classroom jobs
10. Have a classroom pet
11. Bring in trendy decorations to celebrate culture

Monthly Drills
This semester, we will conduct the following drills:
Wednesday, February 12th - Severe Weather Drill
Fire Drill
- Please exit the building and position you and your class on the curb away from the school. You will not be permitted to stand in the street. Please carry your green and red cards for accountability.
Severe Weather
- If you are not in a severe weather marked room, or if you are upstairs - please prepare to move to a protected location. If you do not know where to go, please send an email to Ms. Gonzales and we will get you squared away before Wednesday! If you will be absent, please leave the appropriate communication for your sub is moving is required.
- Lockdown
- Shelter in Place
You all have done an excellent job in supporting the drills up to this point! Thank you for your diligence.
Red binders are available. Many of you have picked them up! If you are still in need of a red emergency/sub binder, please see Ms. Gonzales in A114!
Building Improvements PAINTING - Spring Break
The 3rd wave of painting has completed! Painting will continue throughout the building over Spring Break to include;
The next focus will be to finish the common areas of the Westside!
In preparation for painting, please remove:
1. External signage specific to your room
2. Student work
3. Anything you do not want discarded
This needs to all be removed by the Thursday before we leave for Spring Break. Any remaining items will be removed and discarded.
Work Requests and Work Quotes
Please note the following when requesting work in your classroom or in the building:
All work requests and work quotes for maintenance, grounds, or custodial staff require an Eduphoria work (ticket) request to be submitted. In the event of an emergency, you may contact Ms. Amy Kile at ext. 6522 to report the emergency and then follow up with an Eduphoria work request.
Examples of an emergency include, but not limited to:
- Gas odor in the building
- Broken exterior glass
- Broken water line
- An exterior door will not lock
- An electrical outlet is sparking
Also, please make sure you are selecting the right team to serve your needs. For example; issues with dripping water is "plumbing." This will ensure your ticket is approved and served quickly.
If in doubt, pleases make the call.
Event Equipment
Are you hosting an event? Do you require tables and chair? Please see the process below for requesting tables and chairs. Please note: you MUST follow their process or you risk (very high risk) of not having what you need to make your event fabulous!
1. Please request your needs via Eduphoria.
2. The request must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Why?
- A) to ensure the warehouse has what you need.
- B) to ensure your request is scheduled for delivery.
3. There is a campus level approval process. I will deny if you are outside of the timeframe.
4. When the event is over, you MUST have the items ready for pick-up at the location and the time as indicated on the request form. Please note, not following this vital part will place you at risk for not being able to use equipment in the future. Why does this matter?
- A) The warehouse services the entire district
- B) They are responsible for fulfilling requests for other campuses
- C) When they are not able to retrieve items back as scheduled, they can not fulfill other requests in a timely manner.
5. NEW ITEM - once you've placed your request for tables and chairs, you must enter a ticket for custodial support. They will assist with set-up and break-down. Please be clear on the dates and times you will need support.
Please also note: An audit will be conducted. If you have items in your room that have not been properly reserved, they will be removed! Please ensure that you are following protocol. This will help everyone keep proper inventory of all requested items and effectively serve the district.
Here's to having an amazing event with ALL the items you need!
Transportation
Tutoring buses will be available Mondays and Wednesdays. The buses will be available to pick up scholars on the west side at 4:30pm.
You must provide your scholars with the green pass! Transportation continues to show concern due to lack of compliance. This is the responsibility of the tutoring teacher to give the pass.
Teacher Duty Expectations
Why duty? It's your morning, lunch, and afternoon power zone! This is a great time to proactively connect with scholars while assisting with maintaining the safety and security of the campus.
This is a non-negotiable! You are required to be on your duty to help support the safety and security efforts of the campus.
- Morning Duty: 7am - 7:15am.
- Lunch Duty: The last 15 minutes of your designated lunch period.
- After School: 3:00pm - 3:15pm
All teachers are on duty every passing period. This means, please be visible at your door - Meet, Greet, and Check! This is a non-negotiable!
Team 4 - you're up! February 10th - 21st.
