A carbohydrate is an organic compound that provides nutrients to the cells of living things.
Your digestive system changes carbohydrates into glucose. Your body uses this sugar for energy for your cells, tissues, and organs.
Carbohydrates are made of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen.
Carbohydrates produce and store energy.
Carbohydrates can be found in grains, vegetables, beans, fruits, nuts, and yogurt.
