surviving hurricane sandy

The title pretty much says it all. It's about a 16 year old named Matt surviving Hurricane Sandy. Matt lives in Rock Away, New York with his family. But then October 29, 2012 Hurricane Sandy hit Rock Away extremely hard. Matt and his family did not escape to safety in time to get out of the storm. The water in his house began to rise as Matt and his family placed all valuables to the highest floor of their house. Matt and his brother began to build sandbags to keep the water out. His dad did not know if the house would stand. Them along with other families went to Matt's neighbor's house for safety. But the water was already up to his waist. While going to the neighbor's house he saw an old lady needing help. He swam to rescue her then went back for her dogs through the fridge water. To this day Matt is still helping Rock Away recover from the storm. But Matt will always be a hero to everyone in Rock Away.
