Introduction - Liz Cummins
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all, provide you with some meaningful business updates and confirm the direction I want to take First Security in.
As I’m sure you have all personally witnessed Interserve, our parent company, and the security brand have gone through some significant challenges and I would like to put you at ease that I would not have accepted this responsibility if I didn’t think we were in a good place. From a financial stance I’m delighted to confirm that Interserve is in the best cash position we have been in for the last 16 years.
In my new capacity I’m ensuring we access the business Security Intelligence measures that suit our challenges and are tailored to our needs. I’m excited over using the Griffin replacement; ACT and rolling this out to our operational leads. I’m delighted to hear of our success at securing the BBC contract for another 3 years and it is heartening to know that the prestigious contract of the BBC have not be deterred by the negative news in the press has not affected their decision making process.
My commitment
My commitment to each and every one of you is I will improve how you are trained and communicated with. Health and Safety will be at the front of everything we do. I want you to come to work, perform your duties to the best of your abilities and then return home to your families safely and in the knowledge your welfare is my priority.
We will achieve this through a focused and professional operations team and I’m delighted to announce some changes in account management. We have a new Account Manager joining the team later this month who will report directly to me. He has gone through a robust recruitment process and will bring a fresh approach and energy to the teams, I’m very happy to be welcoming him on board.
We are currently recruiting for an Ops Director of Security which is ongoing, if you have any suggestions of candidates please feel free to let our Recruitment Team know so we can consider.
I have every confidence you will see significant and meaningful improvements in how we engage with you. I believe that everyone can do the day job, I want our team to take pride in what they do, work in a safe and nurturing environment and have the capacity to develop their own career supported by us. These principles are what I used to secure and lead The Perception brand (Interserve’s premium brand delivering Front of House, Concierge and Corporate Services) and make it the market leader proposition it is now. I will do the same to Security and I want you all to take an active part in ensuring we get there sooner.
The Future
I’m keen to further analyse the Security brand, and what I have quickly learnt is what we, as a collective stand for, and I will ensure this is correctly captured in our new marketing material and brand proposition to new clients. I want this material and these resources to reflect how I plan for us to achieve market leading through leadership in Security and excellent customer service. When I have decided on the finer details of our proposition I will again share this with you and some of you are already working with me to help me decide on that direction.
For me taking us into the future, everything is about business growth as this creates opportunity for your and your team mates development. It results in a natural sequence of events to which The Perception brand has become very accustom too (personal development leads to client experience which leads to customer satisfaction which results in positive news and new customers) and I would like to see this fantastic dynamic way of working extended to our Security teams.
So, by way of my virtual introduction to you all I’d like to share with you a little bit about me;
I originally trained as a Chef and travelled the world in this career. I am tenacious, I know what good looks like and I’m not afraid to call it out when it’s not! I believe in developing every single one of my team and I will be the first one to congratulate you when you achieve that promotion! I am true to my word. Within my current team I have a 100% retention rate, which I think is quite a powerful statistic and I’m happy to shout about how proud of them I am. And whilst we are talking about statistics we also have one of the best retention rates of our contracts in Interserve, something I am keen to replicate now in Security.
I’m really looking forward to meeting you over the course of this year and answering any questions that you may have.
