Holiday Inspired
Dear Parents
As we get closer to the end of this term, students are getting more and more excited about the holiday celebrations. This week we made a connection between boxes and the winter celebrations. In class, we turned boxes into different things to celebrate the end of this term. We continued our Box study by focusing on the question: "How can we use a box for fun?" Children were very excited to see several of our centers had fun and exciting activities with boxes.
- Snowman Bowling: Children built a snowman following number sequence 1-6, then proceeded to knock it down by kicking a ball from a distance. They practiced math, gross motor, and taking turns!
- Feed the Reindeer: we made a big-mouth reindeer out of some old boxes and practiced tossing a bean bag to feed him.
- Toy Workshop and Wrapping Station: Children were encouraged to think about a toy they wanted to create and whom they would give it to. Going through the fun process of designing, creating, revising and wrapping. Children chose an appropriate box from our huge box collection and then wrapped it with recycled butcher paper from our bulletin boards. The last step was to place the gift in the classroom sleigh we made last week.
This was a fun way to close the study with a little holiday spirit!
We are looking forward to our Holiday Celebration next week. Children are excited about making and decorating cookies.
A big thank you from Ms. Nicole and myself for all your support this semester, your open communication and your participation in the classroom. It has been a pleasure to teach your children and I know they will continue to shine next semester.
Have a wonderful time together this Holiday break, filled with lots of fun with family and friends!
Wishing you well,
