Triton Times
Eastlake Middle School 7.27.18
It was a great first week! The students have been nothing short of amazing. I have been so impressed with the positive energy and attitude they have brought each day. We are trying to make ELM a great place for each student. There are many clubs and sports programs that I hope your students choose to participate in. Please please visit our website at elm.sweetwaterschools.org for updated information. Here are some highlights and points to consider:
1. Visitors! We have students visiting from China as part of the EduAbroad experience. It's going to be a great two weeks of learning and making new friendships.
B. ID and Photos. Dress sharp as we take your pictures for school IDs and the yearbook. Pictures are this Monday and Tuesday. Retakes will be announced.
C. This year we will launch our Triton Traits series that will address the social and emotional well-being of our students. Please see the flyer below for our new mission statement as well as our Core Beliefs that house the Triton Traits.
D. Expectations Assembly. This past week we talked with students about the Triton Way via an Expectations Assembly. We covered key points from the Parent and Student Handbook. Please preview this handbook as we will ask you to sign off indicating that you understand the expectations as well. The handbook can be viewed on our website.
E. Balance. We are balancing all classes this week. We apologize in advance if your student is moved to another class. There should be no additional changes moving forward after this week.
F. Open House. Come meet our staff on August 9th. We will send out a flyer with additional information this week. Please circle the date in the meantime!
G. PTSO! Our parent organization is looking for amazing parent leaders. We can use your help. Please nominate yourself or other great parents. Please visit the PTSO website.
H. Interested in Athletics? Check out the flyer below! Information for Fall Sports tryouts will be announced shortly on the website.
I. We are currently experiencing a number of login and purchasing issues with our online WebStore for PE Clothes and Spirit gear sales. We apologize for any inconvenience but we hear that we are not the only school having issues and district personnel is in contact with the company that runs the WebStore to try and solve the issues at hand. Please know that if students still need to purchase items, they can still visit the ASB Student Store during PE Classes as well as during Nutrition Break and Lunch.

A Message from our Assistant Principals!
Dr. Shannon Chamberlain and Lt. Mendel Nafarrete
Welcome Tritons to the 2018-19 school year! Joining us this year on the administrative team are Dr. Shannon Chamberlain and Dean Nafarrete. Dr. Chamberlain has been in the District for 15 years and comes from Castle Park Middle School where she taught Science. Dr. Chamberlain is the 7th grade Assistant Principal. Mr. Nafarrete has also been with the District for 15 years and comes from Otay Ranch High School as the former Assistant Principal Student Activities. He will be the 8th grade Assistant Principal. This week the Assistant Principals conducted Expectation assemblies during student PE classes to provide information from the Student/Parent Handbook. We ask all parents to please review the handbook with your student which can be found on the school website. We will be having safety drills on August 8 and 9 to practice emergency procedures. Parents please be advised that if you are planning to pull out your student during the safety drill, there may be a delay in having your student come up to the office. In addition, Open House is on August 9. Times and details will be provided on the school website. We are looking forward to a fantastic year at Eastlake Middle! Go Tritons!
