Congrats & Best of Luck 8th Graders

We'd like to thank all the Franklin 8th Graders and families for attending this year's 8th Grade Awards' Assembly on Friday, June 2. Our group of 211 8th Graders were recognized for not only their outstanding work during their 8th Grade year, but also the three years of contributions to our building. I would personally like to thank our 8th Grade students who wrote and presented speeches to their classmates; Layla Eckhardt, Raafa & Rahma Elsheikh, and Sophie Lindwall.

On behalf of the Franklin Staff we wish the best of luck to our students as they make the transition to Kennedy and Washington High School. We can't wait to follow along as they leave their marks on their new buildings. This group was part of the outstanding tradition we have at Franklin Middle School.

Click on the pictures below to see a list of our 8th Grade Award winners.
During the 8th Grade Awards Assembly the 2014 Commencement Address at the University of Texas was referenced. The speech was presented by Admiral William H. McRaven and provided 10 Life Lessons from Basic Navy SEAL training. I've included a link to the speech below that's worth your time to view.

8th Grade Mural

Last year we started a tradition with our 8th Grade students to create a mural that will be mounted on the wall outside of our IMC. This year's group, under the instruction of Dr. Tiffany Carr, put together another wonderful product. Next time you're in the building, I encourage you to take a look at these extraordinary pieces.

2nd Semester Honor Roll Recipients

Congratulations to all our students for their hard work and recognition through our "A" and "B" honor roll for 2nd Semester. 8th Grade students had their certificates mailed home with their grades. Returning 6th and 7th Grade students will receive their certificates in the fall. Please join us in congratulating the following students below.

Summer Construction Projects

Workers are busy at Franklin Middle School replacing tile and carpet around the building in the cafeterias and Computer Science classrooms. Other projects include updated handrails and steps in the auditorium for improved handicap accessibility, removing a wall in the KITE classroom and new asphalt on the running track. All these projects are funded through PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy).
