Laurelton-Pardee News
January 29, 2016
Welcome.
Dear LP Families:
Tonight is the school play! We had a performance at school yesterday, which was fantastic. I'm so proud of our entire production of about 50 kids. The show has taken a village to produce. Under the direction of Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Herforth, they have united our community with support in building the set, directing the chorus, and crafting costumes. We hope you can come tonight!
We will be selling carnations at the play, if you wish to buy one for your little star of the show! Please remember, too, there is a $1.00 admission charge to the play with children under five free.
Student performers are being dropped off at 6:00, but the doors to the cafeteria will open at 6:15. See you then!
Sincerely,
Lucas Hiley
Principal

Changes for the 2016 Grades 3-8 Math and ELA State Exams
The NYS Education Department informed us this week that this year's state tests will look a little different. While we knew the tests were being created by a different company (Questar), we learned a few other differences for the year.
The main changes:
1. Greater involvement of educators in the test development process.
2. Decrease in the number of test questions
3. A shift to untimed testing
