Staff Meeting Presentation 11/20

Thank you for attending our staff meeting during collaboration two weeks ago. Here is a quick recap regarding tutorial:

  1. Kevin shared the Tutorial Sheet with you. He e-mailed a tutorial video on how to set it up.
  2. The video shown today can be seen by clicking HERE. You are more than welcome to share with your students as we prepare for 2nd-semester scanning.
  3. Remind students to take advantage of tutorial time. It’s 100 minutes a week of academic support!
  4. Please practice, test out the scanners, and find a system that works for you over the next month. Let us know if we can support you in any way.
  5. If you think of any innovative ways to use the scanner in your classroom, please let us know so we can share it with others.

Just a quick follow-up to our staff meeting & email.

  • Before the sheet will work properly you need to approve the script to run. That is found in the video below. It should take 2-3 minutes to get it to run.
  • Always make sure you are in the first column when scanning/typing in IDs.
  • I will be going around building by building over the next couple of weeks during tutorial to check in

Re-thinking Grading Practices

If you wanted to make just one change that would immediately reduce student failure rates, then the most effective place to start would be challenging prevailing grading practices. As we wrap up the semester and start to finalize grading, I challenge you to read this article and see if you might be using the same grading practices as long as you can remember.
